I finished about half of GoW and then had enough. Traded it in for MLB 2k7. I got better of course but the dam* controller is still too imprecise and clunky. Mouse/keyboard is so much better in comparison there is no comparison.

Only tried a couple of console FPS and the controller feels very un-natural and awkward. Maybe I'll be less critical if I have never play FPS with kb/m on a PC before. I think the main reason console developers are not implementing kb/m control scheme is that ppl would find it too hard too use kb/m while sitting on their couch. kb/m requires desk space and that's where the PC sits at.

i don't you need a FULL keyboard. they just need the AWSD buttons and a few around for functions. it'll end up to be like 1/3 the size of a normal k/b.

i tried GoW and i was getting used to it. but no way it can compare to kb/mouse on a pc

Problem is that would create a 2 level playing field - basically online all the M/Kb users would pwn all the controller users. You effectively force everyone to get a M/Kb and put their console on a desk so you can use M/Kb properly.

With the average age ranging more into adulthood in the gaming market both in the USA and over sea's , I don't see why not.

I am from PC and I try and try with the xbox playing gears it makes me look like a noob to FPS! I just could not wait for the game on the PC and I kind feel that it has ruined it a bit now for me (my fault).

I don't understand this. You don't even need a keyboard/mouse combo. You could make a single unit, say about half the size of a standard keyboard where one side of the unit has the keypad and the other side has a joystick. You could essentially play the same, subsituting the joystick for the look and fire features the mouse controls, and it would fit right in your lap. You don't even need the joystick for look and fire control; you could use touchpad. Why hasn't this been done for console? It seems like you could come up with something simple enough.

Microsoft's console is pretty good, but like all their secondary markets it was built with the revenues from their OS position. It seems like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too here to me. .....

I'm pretty sure that Windows would do just fine with home users, even without all the gaming. Not everyone likes, or can afford a Mac. Linux, imo, isn't there yet for user friendliness. And then there's the corporate side of things, where Micrsoft makes most of their money anyway.

Well, with the announcement of TF2 [according to a German magazine] being able to play PS3, X360 and PC against each other, we'll see after all

I also give it .01 seconds until someone enables the built-in-console autoaim for the PC version.

Edit: I can't stand console controllers period. I played halo on Xbox once and could barely move. It's far too clunky.

There is a reason that circle strafing, bunny hopping, rocket jumping, headshots, and juggling all came from the pc side.

The only things to come from the console side were hiding behind objects as an actual rewarded gaming element (they used to be called camping llamas), 1 shot kills, excessive auto aim, humping corpses and the ability to fire jeeps into the atmosphere.

Protip: Lack of control is still playable, but it doesn't mean you get the same level of versatility.

But most people have consoles in their living room plugged into their tv - you can't accurately use a mouse and keyboard sitting on the sofa. Perhaps you could shift the coffee table over and plonk the mouse on that but the seating position is all wrong so you'd end up with back ache and rsi.

PC shooters vs Console Shooters? well i play alot of Xbox 360 and alot on my PC and i would have to say it doesnt really matter to me. I can be playing Counter Strike Source for hours and go to my xbox 360 and play some Rainbowsix vegas with out any problems at all. maybe you guys are mentally challenged?

If you had a choice between a X360 and PC version of Counter Strike Source, both having the exact same running scripts(no aimbot), would you still choose the X360? I tell this to my friends that try to tell me to buy a PS3 or X360. They play CS with me and I kick the living sh!t out of them(35-0, me using SMG's them using AWPs, rifles). But they still nag me and I still kick the crap out of them.
Id take the Xbox 360 version because of xbox live.

why would you want to pay $50 a year for something that you can get for FREE on the PC?

Well, he'd have to if he wants to play games online on the 360. Gears of War and so forth. And I've never tried Xfire and so I won't harp on it, but I do wonder if it can run in-game? Like, if a friend comes online onto a different game, will Xfire show a small pop-up while you're in a game of CS:S and stuff? The way Xbox Live integrates into each game and allows you to use the service in-game is extremely useful.

And as a response to various other people... Controls are subjective. Yes it is true than mouse/keyboard is more *accurate*, but control is based on more than how fast one may turn around. Those who can't stand controllers shouldn't play FPS on consoles. Some people like it, and there's simply no need to criticize them for it.

Finally, so controllers aren't good for games like Quake 4. Okay. For something like Rainbow Six: Vegas however, they have their merits. Cover systems are really a great feature, in my opinion. It's simple, intuitive, and captures the atmosphere quite well. One shot-kills may fit the context of the game. Consoles are home to a different breed of shooters than the traditional twitch-variety.
