I played the beta and wasn't impressed at all. The content is aimed too much towards casual gamers. I'm no powergamer by any means but I like to get in a few hours to accomplish things besides skilling up a character.

Like someone said, the same people who were raving about how good the game was and how everyone should pick it up are now telling everyone how bad the game sucks.

LMAO!

Betas aren't geared for fun. Whats wrong with you people. Just like the dev team tells you when you sign for up for Betas, being a Beta person can be hard work, frustrating, and tedious at times... But that is the role of the Beta gamer, to not have fun, but let the Dev's know what is wrong, so that it can be fun. Maybe that's why the game isn't up to par for some. The massive flood of people who applied for Beta, solely to play a free game, didnt give any feedback to the Devs, grief when it came time to pay for it, so they could quit w/o a guilty conscience. Anyhow, there are still lots of people from Beta still in, who still enjoy the game.

And grouping doesn't have any perks besides people to chat with, because half the people in the group have the same skills as you do.
See, now that's where you're just wrong. Leveling up does give you new abilities, you just need to know what to do with them. Head shot, leg shot, etc. And grouping up lets you tackle MOBs that you'd have no chance at solo.

I do agree with you regarding schlepping about and the need for vehicles. I should be able to buy a landspeeder or a speeder bike or something. I don't think it's necessary that there be vehicle combat (though it would be nice) since I'm not sure the engine can handle it.

Most of the abilities you get just didnt FEEL worth it to me. I remeber playing Eq and getting new spells and they really added something cool.

not its just like.. ' Hey, I can shoot his HEAD isntead of his body now ' yeah!

I know im being a little sarcastic but leveling didnt have much enjoyment for me. The skills all seemed kind of lame.

I agree totally. I refuse to play any game that costs just as much as the other games AND costs me 15-25% of the original cost every month to play. BS!! I'll just keep playing CS or waiting patiently for www.planeshift.it. I played DAOC for awhile and thought it was kewl but it just cost SO much to keep playing!

I've played planeshift. It sux REALLY really bad.

AS I SAID I'LL WAIT PATIENTLY FOR PLANESHIFT! Its not even in Beta yet dude. For an open source project it looks great and its FREE. If you can't appreciate that then keep giving $200 a year to Sony Online.

Im not currently giving sony any money, and I dont intend to. However that doesnt make planeshift a better game

Unless it gets a whole new graphics engine, then I dont care if its not in beta or what, it looks like poop

Let's start with your stereotypes and then move on.
A) I don't live with my parents and haven't for over 10 years.
B) I do support a clan but I don't pay anything near $200 a year for that CS server, and I'm definately not going to pay $10 a month to beta test a game as you are "The game is getting better all the time, and they update the game with fixes nearly every day. It's certainly not the 'most polished' game out there."
C) I'm not thread crapping as I gave my honest opinion without resorting to personal attacks which you are obviously incapable of. Kakka poohpooh head.

Please continue your stereotypes and personal attacks...lets the flames begin!

You can feel free to fit into the "EVERYONE ELSE", below my A, B, and C. Categories. But if you feel you need to step up and protect the lame, feel free to be their hero.

And as for not paying anything near $200 a year for a CS server. How much DOES a CS server cost you? I'm sure you've got the hook up, and are super special, unlike the rest of the world, as you've mad imminently clear. I know with Recongamer.Com the fee is $300 every six months. Someone has to pay for it.

And as for beta testing, name a good quality game, from a major company (not your buddy Joe's shareware tetris) that is in revision 1.0 please. Every good game with proper support has updates, patches, and fixes.

That may be true, but the problem with galaxies for me wasnt bugs, it was the lack of content. I think there is a difference between a game taht needs fixes and a game that just isnt finished.

your missing the point. Everyone knows that a Beta isnt for fun, but you can tell when a game is not ready. Besides, 2 days before it launched the beta was almost exactly like the release version. Unfinished, tedious, and kind of boring. The game is still that way for me. I can understand how people like it, but it feels like a dead universe to me. I dont like all the dynamic content. There is no solid story or even static enviroment around y ou. I dont mead to the point where you camp a certain mob over and over again but this is so dynamic it just feels random.

I can agree with most of that.
But the way the game is now is common with massive games at release. Only through releases, patches, and updates will it get better (I believe I said this before). So tough it out, come back later, or sell your account on fleabay.
As for the dynamic content, I also mentioned its a multiplayer universe, and not a single player game. You want a job, find one. They're not handed to you except for 'mission terminals', and those aren't that great. Those are meant to reward the lazy, and the lazy are getting mad because they want better rewards.

And two months after release date, and no one yet has what it takes to be a Jedi. But, of course all you non-jedi have finished the game and quit already. I wouldn't consider myself done until I had attained that level, but thats just me.

Doesn't have what it takes or can't achieve the goal because it isn't even in yet? I've been playing MMORPGs for maybe 7 years now and I have seen many times where devs BS people. This was especially notorius in EverQuest where a "bug" or something kept you from finishing whatever it was you were doing.

SWG was released with the least content I've ever seen in any game. I do believe it'll have much more content over time, but I and many other people believe that current subscribers to SWG are paying for a beta. But hey if you're enjoying it, have fun. And uh, about that whole beta thing. I was able to play for maybe 10 hours, then the servers were always down, then there was a character wipe and I said forget it. I guess the monotony of EQ is my boat.
