Hey all-
I'm having some major issues with my secondary PC. It is a T-Bird 1.1Ghz CPU on an MSI mobo and we were having problems with it shutting itself off on its own for quite sometime after rebuilding it into a new PC (the board and chip sat for a while in an anti-static bag and box while not in use). After fooling around with it a lot trying to troubleshoot the issue, I came to an 80% conclusion that the generic CompUSA 300watt ATX PSU was giving it some issues. The system would shut down after about 20 minutes of use, then upon powering it back up it would shut down after about 2 minutes and sometimes not even boot. This originally lead me to believe that it was heat, but after running the PC in the BIOS and letting the temperature get nice and high and it not shutting down, I began to look elsewhere.
So, I replaced the PSU with an Antec 350 watt ATX PSU and it ran for about 20 minutes, then the HDD light stayed on solid and we lost everything, but the PSU and fans continued to run. I have let it cool off for a while, reseated the CPU, etc. and it will just run the fans and PSU upon power on. NOTHING else... no signal to the monitor, no nothing. All of the MSI LED's are red.
Anyone have suggestions of ideas?
Thanks!!
