I'm new to this overclocking so please be gentle.
Pending the CPU price drops, I will be purchasing the P4 2.53 GHz, 533FSB. I'll try to overclock it to at least 3.0 GHz on an Epox 4G4A+. With the multiplier of 19, I would need a FSB of 4x157.89=631.56 to reach 3.0 GHz. I figure the max I could push (with luck) is probably 3.2GHz, with FSB of 4x168.42=673.68.
My question: what kind of RAM do I get? The brand will be 512MB Corsair XMS C2, but do I get PC2700, PC3000, or PC3200?
1. PC2700 (166x2=333MHz) for $151
2. PC3000 (185x2=370MHz) for $167.50
3. PC3200 (200x2=400MHz) for $180
For 3.2GHz (if it's possible), shouldn't good Corsair XMS PC2700 with its 333MHz FSB be good enough? To be on the safe side, shouldn't PC3000 be more than adequate? The reason I ask is every post I read, people are getting the PC3200 modules. Money is an issue so I'm trying to save some money. I don't want to buy memory that I won't use full potential of.
I know some (or all) of my reasoning is probably screwy so please correct me and thanks for any input.
