OCZ products seem to be legit, i have a few things from them but never tried the ram. I would say that this ram could run at pc3000 but i dont know how much this would overclock because they use Nanya memory chips, which arent known for overclocking.

I am using it in my XP setup, on an iWill XP333-R motherboard

Currently running @ 150 FSB, but will definetly go much higher. Soon as I get my new PS, I am going to give it a shot. Have seen guys @ 190 and above using it. Who knows really, probably just luck of the draw

Whoa? I had no idea that DDR (PC-3000) was out!
Sweet! What is it clocked at? 400Mhz? Like RDRAM?

As a matter of fact, I loocked at this memory only because I'm building a new system
right now and I'm getting one of iWill XP-333 motherboards, wich, as I unerstand is one of
two MOBO on today's market that can overclock at such speeds.
I was only a little worried if this memory is reliable?!

you guys need to understand that with the iwill board you are not going to gain sh*t, do to the fact that when the 1/5 divider kicks in you loose like 30% in performance....almost the same as running at 133...i have looked into this...i thought the same thing a while back untill i did some research into the board and found out about the performance (drop) people encounter

how much faster in reality is pc3000 to pc2100??? i just got some crucial pc2100 for my soyo dragon+... is my stuff already ancient?

dakata24, no, your ram is still good. Even though the ram is pcXXXX it doesn't mean anything if it doesn't run at the rated speed (duh!).
As you have a KT266A based board you run at 133Mhz = pc2100. If you oc your fsb you might find pc2400, pc2700 or pc300 ram useful because the ram is sure to be able to handle higher speeds.
Ram can often run faster than it's specs though, my pc2100 (133Mhz) Kingston ValueRam run 160mhz without any problems, with a voltage increase though. I'm just glad I got it just before it got more costly, I got 1Gb for about the same as 512mb cost today

As for your ram being ancient as in not future-proof, well, at the time you'll need to upgrade that rig there'll be much faster mobos out that prolly even can't use your current ram.

wa261.......we know what the dividers do ....if you run your fsb as high as you can without the dividers you will see a big inprovement!!

as for the original question .....you will find at amdmb.com.....they have run this memory and have a negitive opinion for it......it dosent do as advertized

no kidding... =)

i see no reason to get the iwill though....havent seen any benches that show it doing anything special...only cool thing about the board is the divider....seems to me its just an expensive ram tester ;-)

Man..., all this is so confusing!!!: confused;
I'm no pro at choosing the right hardware and it took me a long time to get to
to the point when I finally desided wich motherboard I want to get.
But now I'm starting to have a second thoughts.
I'm going to run apps like Maya and RenderMan (not aming at playing games) and
probably the only situation when I will need to overclock is rendering.
What in the name of God should I get?
Maybe I should just get one of them "SunBlade 100" workstations
fom Sun Microsystems?
It has one 500 MHz UltraSPARC-IIe processor
256 MB RAM
20 GIG Harddrive
and it only costs 1.350.00 (less then a system I was going to build would cost)
By the way. Do Sun workstations require some special monitor to be used with them
or anything could be used?

I think I'm going to have to buy some! I'll let you know how it goes! I hope it supports the Fast mode, unlike Crutial. I'm using 2400, but I think it's time to upgrade.

Btw, a wpcredit/wpcrset edit has been found to fix the memory performance drop at 1/5, but not yet 1/6 divider, people with the boards are getting over 3000/2100 scores.

edit......akumabao.......i heard that the ocz 3000 didnt do well...some of the other stuff did better ......went higher..with more aggresive settings.....hynix..??...or kingmax?? i think....you can see the post about it over at amdmb.com.....let me know if you want a direct link....
