Comp USA has their brand memory on sale. It's a 512 stick for half price, normal price is 79.99, $40 instant rebate, out the door for $39.99. SKU is 329445. I just picked up 2 sticks. They're running at fsb 215 in my shuttle, not bad for value ram, 3:3:3:8 in dual channel.

CPU-Z says the manufacturer is Infineon, part number is AED660UD00-500B98X, they had a different name on the chip, but I don't remember what it was, I think it started with an A.

Aeneon - A business unit of Infineon.

PNY is a distributor of Aeneon RAM which accounts for why it's in CUSA RAM since PNY supplies CUSA with its branded RAM. I wonder if this is like Crucial's Spectek brand?

http://www.aeneon.com/en/products/DDR_ubu_512.html

Infineon Technologies AG has created a dedicated business unit called Aeneon that will offer cheaper memory chips to small PC makers.

Infineon Serves No-Name PC Manufacturers with Own Brand.

Infineon recently founded its own business unit called Aeneon in order to serve the huge, but fragmented and growing market for no-name computers and their special requirements. According to Carsten Gatzke, head of the division at Infineon, Aeneon products are optimized for compatibility with the various motherboards used by customers in this so-called white box segment, namely small and micro-enterprises. However, in contrast to delivery of DRAMs to the market for OEM products where Infineon meets a wide range of specifications for applications and platforms for its respective customers, there are several thousand companies in the white box segment that employ these modules in turn. Thus Infineon established a separate distribution network to make service for these customers more transparent and in order to adapt the service offers and logistics of the distributors to the respective regional market.".
June 7th, 2005: --- DigiTimes Interview with Aeneon Senior Director Business Development Wolfgang Schex on Comutex Taiwan

Infineon's 2nd brand DRAM module, Aeneon, wins the 1st battle - Aeneon is fighting for spot retail market against Nanya's elixir with competitive prices.

by Hans Wu

" Infineon's 2nd brand DRAM module, Aeneon, wins the 1st battle - Aeneon is fighting for spot retail market against Nanya's elixir with competitive prices. In order to enlarge its market share, Infineon releases its 2nd brand in DRAM module - Aeneon. With relatively competitive prices, Aeneon seems to win the 1st battle against Nanya's elixir. Aeneon, as an European-owned DRAM module, is taking advantage on the location where Europe market accepts Aeneon which causes a threat for elixir. Infineon highly expects on Aeneon's performances as well as its net profits."

Lanyap,

Thanks for the extremely informative post! I didn't know that elixir was a Nanya company -- I liked Nanya but have avoided elixir in the past for some reason. Now that I know that elixir is really Nanya, I will be less hesitant in buying them. I also like Infineon a lot too so I will have no problems in buying Aeneon brand chips.

Now I just wish I can find out who makes the memory chips in some Kingston sticks I bought recently. They have "AL" on them but I can't find out any information on who this is.

For you guys that bought these... I assume I will have no problem running these at PC2700 if I choose to do so? I'm running a 2100+ but plan to upgrade it semi-soon as well.

for starters, the waiting + the shipping + the restocking fee
plus i get to examine the chips before buying

well spectek is micron value also? but it doesn't work in the same amount of motherboards that micron does?

well, waiting for mr Anandtech Editor to say something about this memory, unless they got some kind of disclosure agreement
he supposed to know eveyrthing anyway

Mmmm, well this is interesting. Picked up a stick of this RAM this afternoon. They had sticks with two different brands of chips. One had chips labeled "Connect" and the other was the "Aeneon". I picked up the Aeneon stick. The plastic package was different than the usual PNY style package and the white label on the stick says "www.connect-computers.com". This URL is also listed on the back of the package with a tech support number associated with www.connect-computers.com. I'll test it out tonight and see how it works. I needed a single sided stick of PC3200.

I got a stick with "connect" on the chips. Stuck it in a emachines sempron 3100 and it works like a charm.

I also got the "Connect" chips. And what?s up with 'www.connect-computers.com' on the CompUSA package as a support source???

Anyway, Sandra shows the mfg. as Wintec with 3-3-3-8 @ 200MHz. Installed in a Shuttle AN-35N Ultra along with two 256MB sticks of Kingston PC3200 3-3-3-8 ValueRam. MemTest-86 freaked out at 200MHz until I moved the Connect stick from slot 3 to slot 1. Worked like a charm after that. Currently running 210MHz at 2.5-3-3-11. Not sure yet how much higher it might go. My Shuttle MB (NewEgg refurb) is only a fair overclocker. The BIOS will randomly go into safe-mode if you push too hard. I recently downloaded a utility (8rdavcore) that allows adjustment of the VCORE and FSB from within Windows - gets around the flakey BIOS issue. Couldn't boot reliably above 200MHz FSB and/or 2.3GHz before.

So, $40 and a free utility have put a little more life into my rig. AMD XP-M 2200+ (35W) now @ 2415MHZ (210x11.5), 1.75v.

The Corsair Value is better than this stuff IMO. Tighter CAS 2.5 timing, matched pair and guaranteed compatibility with all systems.
