PC4200 and PC4300 in one PC?

I currently have PC4300 DDR2 Memory in my rig, however I'm looking to add some ram. I thought I had ordered the PC4300 memory but the shop tells me they only have PC4200 and they told me it shouldn't be a problem to combine those two types.

Which leaves me wondering if this is the case or they're just trying to sell me something?? Does anyone have any insights or answers for me?

It should work fine. Your motherboard should automatically go by the lowest demoninator and change the dimms to that speed. If not, do it manually.

Thanks Sisq0kidd. So it will cost me a bit of performance? I've tried getting somewhere by googling but I can't really seem to find the exact difference..

Well, the thing is I'm not even sure pc4300 is any different than pc4200. By doing some research, it appears the difference in numbers is purely marketing.

Someone said it best on another forum: "The confusion around DDR2-533 (PC4200 vs PC4300) is simple: PC rating for DDR2 modules can be calculated by multiplying the clock by 8. That would result in PC4264 for DDR2-533 memory -- which could be rounded either down to PC4200 or up to PC4300"
