Why is this ram so god awful expensive?! It's old as can be! I have an old p4 willamette 1.5 that I wanted to fill up with tons of ram thinking it would be cheap. Man was I wrong! oofta! It's $200.00 for a single dimm of 512! and I need to have matching pairs! Ahhhh!

Exactly! It's old... = nobody wants it = few companies make it = those few who do want it have to pay through the nose for it.

It's called supply and demand.

Fortunately, you can sometimes find good deals on the for sale/trade forum!
(probably not on 512MB DIMMs though)...

Besides, adding more ram to a williamette wouldn't help much anyway. My 1.8 williamette was less responsive than my p3 667. And being that that particular one is socket 423, you can't do much of an upgrade to the cpu either.

My old P4 1.5 Lasted me 3+ years and it served me very well. I had 512mb RDRAM 800 and compared to my A64 its not bad at all (Normal windows activities). I obviously havnt used my A64 to its full potential due to my video card (which will be upgraded soon) but the performance is only slightly better even with a much faster CPU and double the RAM.

Best idea would be to sell your own RDRAM, eBay your Dell as a barebones, and buy something new. The recommended systems sticky thread can help you out with the new parts.

RDRAM is way overpriced.. It was great RAM for its time, and is still very fast..However RAMBUS screwed everyone, and it never made it mainstream

just a tip, because not many people use it, and its old, on ebay, it is cheap. check ebay

I ended up getting 512 megs on ebay for 134$

Kingston pc800.. Was a pretty good deal, thanks for the suggest you guys..
