PCAnywhere into multiple machines on a network? How?

Ok heres the deal. I use PCAnywhere to get into a computer at my office from home. Works perfectly. But to do it, I had to manually forward the PCAnywhere ports on the router in the office to the machine on the network that I need to get into.

Now there has become a reason I need to remotely get into a second computer on the network. Is there any way to specify which ports each remote uses so that I can set one remote to go to one machine and one remote to go to another? I.e. I want to setup two separate remote icons on the remote machine. Clicking on one would get me into the office server while clicking on the other one would get me into my personal machine.

I see that you can specify ports but it seems to be a global setting affecting all remotes.

Thanks for any help.

It's pretty simple. You just have to use different ports for every pcAnywhere client and forward the ports from the router to the corresponding machine inside the LAN. I don't remember where you specify the port in pcAnywhere right now, but it CAN be done.

Thx Buck, I'll try if I don't get an answer.

But to Zuca... I know I can specify ports but the port setting appears to be global for all hosts and remotes.

I really don't want to forward the same port to both machines because one is a server and advertises itself. I want to isolate the personal machines from that danger as best I can.

What version are you using, if you are using 10 or higher you can change the port on the (details) tab on the (connection info) and it will not affect the other remote hosts\clients. Have you thought about setting up a VPN and writing a filter to add all the IP's under 1 rule for more protection? Setup a PPTP connection or something so that your not asking for problems if someone scans you IP they could find out that your using the default ports or that PCA is running on a assigned port and try to attack it.

<off soapbox> I think it really depends on your version of PCA just let me know and I see if I can remember.

Just install VNC on the computers/servers at work. PCA into the one you currently do and bring up VNC and access any other PC/servers from there. This what I do to remotely reboot servers and do account administration. But as mentioned above at a min. change from the default PCA port settings.

Setting up a machine as a pcanywhere gateway is an option. It's an option in the pcanywhere program, the documentation should describe it.

Basically, first you set up a machine to be a gateway. Then in your connection settings, you tell it to connect through that gateway. Your pc will send the request to the network, the router will forward it to the gateway box, and the gateway box will then be able to forward it to any machine on your network.

Remote Administrator also does this. www.famatech.com
