PCI/AGP BIOS issue

Putting together a new machine using a BIOSTAR 8598 board
apparently the bios default is for a pci video card
i have an agp video card and know no one with a pci video card
is there some way to change this setting?
without a pci video card or trying to guess through the menus?

You're barking up the wrong tree. BIOS settings like that are only to set the primary VGA preference - so that with BOTH a PCI and AGP VGA, the user gets to choose which one becomes the primary (boot) display.

If you have only one VGA, then it will become the primary VGA no matter what the setting is at. If you get no screen output, you have an entirely different problem.

so if my setting is pci but i have an agp card, i should still get video?
like i said, this setup only has board, fan, chip, mem, harddrive, vid card -> no video
moved chip, mem, harddrive , vid card to other machine -> video
any thoughts?

Exactly, that's what I said and how it is. You most certainly don't have a video problem at all - SOMETHING is keeping the machine from firing up at all.

Just fixed basically the same problem on a mates PC last night.

The fix.... re-seat the CPU, it mustn't have been in the socket quite right. Took it out, put it back in again and it all fired up nicely.
