PCI and next gen video cards

i know there are currently very few good pci 3d cards voodoo5 and a few gforce2 mx cards... there is a ati radeon pci card but has not yet been realesed.. my question is should i pick up a good pci card now or wait and see the next generation of 3d cards and hope for a pci version??? is pci dead or is there hope???

Well i think the companys should still make the pci versions.There are a great deal of pc's even now on the store shelves that have a cheap built in agp graphics with no agp slot.Who know's if they will make pci in their next cards.The mx is good now but the 5500 would be the best.

hope thay do make pci 3d cards... but for now i should pick one up... the v5 is good but is too expensive compaired to a mx pci which is 1/3 less then the v5 plus it will be supported in the future... i have seen some reviews of the pci version mx cards the performance drops but not by that much and is still up to speed with the v5 plus it has more featuers eg tv out..... its a hard decision ??? btw have any of the big 3d companies announced pci versins of there upcomming cards...//???

I haven't really heard of any planned PCI support for the next generation of 3d cards. Of course, that's not to say the companies won't produce them, they're just being pretty tight-lipped about their plans at the moment.

If you don't see yourself upgrading to AGP any time soon, then go with one of the already released PCI cards. I tend to like nvidia product lines (geforce2 mx) slightly better than 3dfx, but ultimately, the choice (albeit a hard one) is yours.
