The picture for this powersupply shows a 4 pin pci express connector
http://www.xclio.com/product_04-a.htm

but, if you look at ths PSU,
http://www.seasonicusa.com/products.php?lineId=9
This has a 6 pin pci express graphics card connector.

Can anyone explain how these pins seem differnt? I have a mobo which seems to have an onboard 4 pin pci express connector and my graphics card does not have a "on-card" one.

so, im trying to figure out that buying the 6pin seasonic above would be kinda useless for me correct? again, since im new to this stuff, im confused.

appreciate help,
g

The one on the top looks like a regular Molex connector. I haven't used any PCI-E video cards yet, so I don't know whether they all have the 6-pin connector in the second one or not. I also have a Seasonic S12 (600W) PSU, and it has the 6-pin kind too....I imagine you could just use a regular Molex from it if you had to for whatever reason...

its a mystery..

The 4pin on the xclio is just a standard molex connector, which I believe gets plugged in to to the mothboard and they just singled it out for some odd reason(probably because it has dual 12v rails). The 6pin is for the graphics card.

QFT.
The folks at Asus told me that if you are only using one card (i.e. no SLI), and it is powered, that the molex connector on the motherboard is optional, and most certainly not necessary. So I have the 6 pin on the video card powered, and the molex disconnected on the motherboard. Runs great.

The first link is a regular molex connector for AGP cards (unless they used the wrong pic). It's probably colored to indicate that it's a dedicated cable line for a video card, A.K.A. a single molex connector on one cable running (12V, 5V, & ground), as opposed to three molex connectors & a floppy connector on one cable running.

Second link is a regular power connector for PCIe cards.

In addition, assuming you're not confusing the 4-pin processor power socket with the 4-pin molex socket found on dual card motherboards. The 4-pin molex socket is there in an event that should you use a PSU with a 20-pin ATX connector, it can receive additional power (if required) from a molex connector that would otherwise not be necessary if a PSU with a 24-pin ATX connector was used instead.
