PCI Port Sharing Question!

I'm getting rid of my ATI crossfire setup (thank god) and fitting a single slot Nvidia 8800GT in my ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe motherboard. My question is which would be the best PCI port to put my Creative X-Fi Sound Card into which would create less conflicts. It confuses me when I look at the chart IRQ Chart

Your mobo manual should tell you which slots are connected to which resources in re. physical IRQ lines, etc. You may also be able to find out within the BIOS setup system if Gigabyte did a thorough job of it.

Please detail exactly what conflicts you're having. Are you running DOS or a DOS-based OS? Otherwise, Win2k and newer should resolve all of this for you; that's the point of acpi....

What's DOS? Lock-ups during 3D game play with Win-XP. Plus the crackling issue with X-Fi and certain games. I'm also going to switch to Vista OS. What PCI slot would you guys pick???

You saw that those directions were for 98/ME, right? Those are the DOS-based OSs. 2000 and newer can share IRQs without issue. If the OP discovers differently, he should get Creative on the phone to explain why they can't follow a spec that was published in what... 1997?

Install the PCI card in the last PCI Slot and give it a try.
