No its not a raid card, its a raid controller.

Swerus-

I already have my OS/Apps on one of the Intel SSDs. The other SSDs are for "toying around with" and will stay attached to the ICH10R. I really don't need help with that.

My concern, from the onset of this thread was about my 4 x 2TB Barracuda attached to the PCI FakeRAID controller causing performance issues with my entire system.

I am not going to get the "right platter drives" because I already own these drives. What would be the purpose of getting rid of them? I didn't get these drives for performance. I got them for storage.

I don't get how they're affecting the entire computer? My understanding is that the performance of JUST those arrays on the PCI storage sucks, no?

Get this as your high end solution

or the rosewill you posted will get the job done for less money and still get you off the legacy bus. The windows dynamic disks are pretty flexible too and 'hardware' raid at these price points isn't much better or different anyways.

I tried that RAID card once with my current setup and no matter what I did the machine wouldn't post with it in any PCIe slot.

ICH10r is RAID capable. No need for another fake RAID card, use the ICH10R ports for RAID and a regular SATA controller for non-RAID disks.
