i'm having problems installing a netgear wireless card in my laptop.
the laptop is a few years old [compaq, 1.8ghz duron] and used to use the card with no problem. a while ago the power led stopped going on when the laptop booted up.
i thought the drivers got corrupted somehow, so i reformatted. what happened at this point was that the power led would go on for a second when the card was jacked in, and then go off immediately.
i just reformatted the laptop again [same as last time, winxp pro w/ sp2], and now when i plug in the card, the power led doesn't go on at all. it doesn't flicker or anything when the computer cold boots or is rebooted.
the pci cardbus is a TI-1410 ...if that helps...
i've tried this card in a working laptop and it detected instantly without lag and worked perfectly fine.
is it possible for pcmcia slots to just kinda conk out ?
any thoughts / comments / solutions are appreciated.
thanks!
