I dunno what you tried, which device you mean, or how Mint handles them but sometimes it's as simple as fixing mapping issues and/or creating a custom keymap file (xmodmap). I remember an older program called Lomoco that configured Logitech devices too.
I have a Logitech T650 TouchPad. I'll research it a bit more and see what I can do to resolve this issue.

Well I'm glad Newell considered the possibility since I no longer need Windows anymore to play games.

Back in the 90's I used to mainly use NetBSD (was a support developer) and Linux (Slackware then Debian) firsthand, Windows was an afterthought for required software or gaming. But in the past ~10 years I've been using Windows more than *nix however it's going the other way for me now thanks to virtual machine capacities, I can run Windows inside Linux as if it was native and pass the GPU through to it and play games on there without dual-booting (I mostly play Planetside 2, Cities Skylines, and Project CARS).

You know Cities Skylines has a Linux version on Steam, right?

A couple weeks ago took Linux Mint/dual boot off my Lenovo laptop and I'm back to Windows 10 Home. Linux Mint just didn't work for me.

As far as an OS is concerned a SSD is just another writable block device, not sure why it would care.

There was a problem with lack of TRIM support in older kernels killing SSD performance over time, but that hasn't been an issue since the CentOS 6/Ubuntu 12 days.

I used to have Windows 8 on my system. I only used it to play a few games that wouldn't work in Wine and wasn't likely to get a Linux port, and to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime. I found the Metro UI to be so freaking useless and troublesome to use that I had to install ClassicShell to even be able to use it at all.

Back in late 2014 due to be able to watch movies online without jumping through a bunch of damn hoops thanks to Chrome, I finally went Windows free. And I sure as hell don't miss it.

Windows 10? With all of the crap I have been hearing about it, I really glad I don't have to mess it.

Just wondering, but while I'm aware the number of Linux users have been increasing over the last 4 to 5 years, how rapid is this growth? Not only the amount of new users but also those who have been using Linux for years but had to still use Windows or MacOS to do everything they needed or wanted to do? You know folks like me who at some point started using only Linux for everything?

I think linux is not getting that much adoption in USA. I know I use it for everything but a lot of companies still use windows/mac os (if inet company they use linux for infrastrucutre). I guess inet companies like google and facebook mostly use linux but they are the exception. However, Linux is getting more traction in foreign market for economics.

No clue how well Linux is doing in the home market. I've been using unix (first freebsd and now linux) since 93 at home but I stll use windows for gaming (i do wish most games would come out in linux so i could drop the window box).

With VM I'm unsure if folks will run linux and use window in vm when needed or vice versa. I personally hate windows gui (it is not very efficient for multi-tasking) and while mac os is better I've gotten use to gnome like interfaces over the years and find it very difficult to revert to mac gui which I find significantly more limited (but a lot better than windows).

But that is just myself. I have to say that for multi-media window tend to just work and with linux there are times you have to fiddle with it. While I manage fine I could see how many home users would find it too painful. Having said that I put my Dad on linux when windows xp reached eol and he has managed (though he mostly (only) uses browser and adobe (via browser).

If I was building a company from scratch it would be a Linux shop. It would be hard to convert a Windows shop to Linux, but if starting from scratch you can design everything around it. Idealy, most programs would be web based. Stuff like ticketing systems, inventory, customer, that type of stuff, there's absolutely no reason why that stuff can't be web based and coded so that it works in any browser on any OS. Those type of apps are the core of most businesses, then anything more specialized could be figured out to be done in Linux. Possibly have some Windows TS servers or VMs for apps that absolutely need to run in windows and that there is no replacement for. Like Linux lacks proper CAD programs, so if the business needs that then they'd have a VM or TS server for that.

The idea would be that the workstations would not be specialized and rely on local programs. Then you can run pretty much any OS you want.

One thing Linux lacks though is any kind of central management. I'm sure it CAN be done, but it's FAR from turn key, like Windows/AD is. If Linux came up with a proper turn key AD like environment and better permission system (if you've worked IT you would know the native Linux permission system sucks and would not work in business), I bet it would gain a lot of traction in business use. I could see schools use it too. It needs to be turn key, though. nobody has time to read 100's of pages of documentations for something that is done in a few clicks in Windows.
