Just got a pentium D 805 to replace 630 on a Asus P5LD2. So far it's priming at 3.73 @ 1.375 volt. This thing is hottttt!! it dual priming @ 63C with artic freezer and idle around 46.. SuperPI is around 37sec 1M, not that fast but consider it's pt dirt cheap =P

It's a Smithfield. It'll run hot as hell just like the other Smithfields. When you take that kind of power draw and heat output into account, you begin to realize WHY Intel has to dump them at such low prices *P

Just be glad you were able to hit 3.73 ghz at such a low voltage. The higher your vcore, the more aggressively Smithfields throttle(or so it seems).

Yeah, but it doesn't throttle killing performance once it reaches a certain temp either..

I am not sure thats right, I know it changed a bit with the barton and T-bred. But both my t-bird and Palimino locked when ever it hit 56C I ran tests on both of them and they both did the same thing the same way.

And it's a wonder that the chip hasn't died out yet.

Maybe a dump question but what do you mean by throttle?

Maybe a dump question but what do you mean by throttle?

When the proccessor reaches a certain temperature thorttling kicks in, it basicly pauses the CPU every X number of cycles to try and bring the temps down. For example, at 33% throttling. The cpu would pause 1 out of every 3 clock cycles. It would make a 3.2ghz perform more like a 2.1ghz CPU.
