Like the title, haven't visited OT in a while and just got a Palm VIIx, use it to trade stocks @ work so I won't get fired for using Big Brother's internet access for my personal gain. My wife, MS low maintenance (seriously) saw it and demanded one, grabbed her a Visor Deluxe in blue, now she's addicted, came home the other day, gibbering about a friend beaming her games...

Maybe I'm totally geeked out, but they make me feel like I did when I got my first 8086 monochrome monitor PC in the mid 80's.

Compaq Aero 1500. Pocket PC ($300 retail) 16 mb RAM 16mb ROM, I think.
Got it free after my Compaq summer internship. Pretty good. especially pocket outlook calendar contacts tasks. Synchronization is nice.
But if I had to pay, I would get the Handspring visor deluxe.

I stand corrected. It's aero 1500 with pocket pc instead of win CE. it has 16 mb ram and 16 mb rom

I've got me a Visor Deluxe. And yes, like SuperTool implied, it was worth paying for.

Compaq doesn't make a 1600, you must be thinking of the 1500 which has 16MB RAM.

Anyway, I have a Compaq Aero 2110 (which I will be selling quite soon if NE1 is interested for ~$250):

24MB RAM
16MB ROM
PocketPC (WinCE 3.0) ROM upgrade
16Bit color
Serial connection
70MHz NEC MIPS processor

The reason why I am selling the Aero is b/c I just ordered a Compaq iPaq H3630!

32MB RAM
16MB Flash ROM
PocketPC
USB connection
206MHz Intel StrongArm processor

I also will be sending off for the CompactFlash Jacket tomorrow

YUMMY!!!!

<< Cassiopeia E-11 (WinCE), but hoping to upgrade to a Palm Vx. >>

Why not go the PocketPC route? It's a far superior and more capable platform Not to mention mucho faster

IBM z50. Got mine for $270 back when IBM starded dumping them. I use it as a baby laptop: I got a 350mb HD full of mp3's and a CF ethernet card. I do homework on the go using Pocket Office and I store all of my email on it. I sync and surf the web using the ethernet card at school and at home. It does everything I need, the only problem I have with it is that it's kinda slow.

I have the palm M100 (I'm a student and mainly use it for keeping track of my school assignments) I have to admit that my Dad's Vx is pretty nice but for the price the M100 was just right.

I just got a Casio Cassiopeia E-125 last week.

I tried to get an Ipaq, but I couldn't find one, and I didn't really feel like waiting forever. I'm really happy with my E-125 though, 150mhz MIPS, 32MB ram, CFII slot. It's a bit bulkier than the other PocketPC's, but it has the best screen out of any of them, and the button setup is perfect for games.

Chooie:

How do you overclock a Palm V? Does the PDA feel hot when overclocked?

*edit: found the software to do it.*

I had a color HP WinCE. Biggest waste of cash, but that's probably lifestyle-related. I don't even wear a watch or have a calender, anymore. I usually don't carry a cell phone either. So most of the time, I have no idea what time it is, what I have planned for the day, when I should be where, and am totally unreachable. Free at last!!

That's true, I used it outside the other day and it was hard to see, but I really don't use it outside much. I usually use it either in class, in the library, in the food court at school, or at work. Inside though, it looks awesome, perfectly clear and sharp, 65,000 colors. I played the game Turjah from Jimmy software on it the other day, it looked awesome.

Yeah, the Casios have the absolute BEST screen for indoor use. I chose the iPaq b/c of it's dual personality screen, looks, speed, and the ability to use CF and PC Cards.

I looked at the Casio that you have, but ended up going for the iPaq. Can't wait to get it in my hands

iPaqs are nice. Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on them this summer even while working for Compaq.

NFS4: When are you expecting your Ipaq? Those things are sold out everywhere. Before I bought my Casio I went to a lot of stores around here looking for Ipaqs, and most places almost laughed in my face when I asked if they had any Ipaqs in stock. Then I decided on the Casio E-125, went to Fry's and they had one there so I picked it up. I found out later after I bought it that the E-125's are a little hard to find too because they just came out. Guess I just got lucky.
