This just goes to show conservatives don't have a monopoly on stupid. But do not let me interrupt. Please return to your outraged circle jerk.

The term "peanut butter and jelly" is obviously code words used by racists. Most members of the Party of White Guilt have keen insight into this highly subtle code language used by racists.

Looks like we now need to add "peanut butter and jelly" to The Condensed Liberal Handbook of Racial Code Words:

Angry
Chicago
Constitution
Experienced
Food Stamp President
Golf
Holding down the fort
Kitchen cabinet
Obamacare
Privileged
Professor
You people
Peanut butter and jelly

Mental depravity is an ugly thing to behold.
That experiended angry professor playing golf in chicago, was privileged by the Food stamp president, according to the constitution, to enjoy his Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, created from the Kitchen Cabinet funded by Obamacare from you people, for holding down the fort for his country.

You all are welcome.

The Tribune noted that the school started the new year with "intensive staff trainings, frequent staff meetings, classroom observations and other initiatives," to help educators understand their own “white privilege,” in order to "change their teaching practices to boost minority students’ performance."

"Last Wednesday, the first day of the school year for staff, for example, the first item of business for teachers at Scott School was to have a Courageous Conversation — to examine a news article and discuss the 'white privilege' it conveys," the Tribune added.

One of many reasons I could never go into teaching. I would rather have have participated in one of the Nuremberg Rallies than subject myself to that "Courageous Conversation" crap.

Shit like this is why I am no longer a liberal.

The Tribune noted that the school started the new year with "intensive staff trainings, frequent staff meetings, classroom observations and other initiatives," to help educators understand their own “white privilege,” in order to "change their teaching practices to boost minority students’ performance."

White privilege... that's a big buzz phrase lately, frankly I'm not entirely sure white privilege is such a bad thing.

If I moved to Mexico I'd expect there to be Latino privilege in the sense that the whole culture would be crafted by, and for them. I'd expect my kids to have to learn Spanish, and adapt to what the school served for lunch. I wouldn't probably go out of my way to make them more used to foods from the US at home, creating an inevitable disconnect when they ate other things at school.

I wish I had peanut butter and jelly for lunch today, but I slept in too long to have enough time to make one. I settled for ham sandwiches.

So you are an anti-semite and hate muslims then?

Who knew what kind of sandwiches one likes can reveal the inner depths of ones character.

Hope this person that started this BS is removed from having any influence over children. Teaching children to see racism in the most inane of objects will only serve to perpetuate racism. Of course any action against this person will no doubt result in accusations of.... racism.

If I moved to Mexico it would probably be BECAUSE I wanted myself and my family to be immersed in that culture, otherwise why the fuck did I move there?

and this lady can't even have the plausible deniability of saying oh well, me or my family came to a part of the US that used to be controlled by Mexico... she's in fucking Portland!

if you don't want to be confronted by whiteness, don't go to motherfucking Portland!

You know, she might be on to something. Yesterday I opened my fridge and caught my PB&J sandwich burning a cross in front of some watermelon slices. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but...

Imagine a world run by people like boomerang, where anytime someone does something stupid, its clearly because of their political philosophy.

Thanks for giving us a clear example of post hoc ergo propter hoc.

Thank GOD we have enlightened OP's that share the contents of their inbox with us daily...

White privilege... that's a big buzz phrase lately, frankly I'm not entirely sure white privilege is such a bad thing.

The "diversity educator" crowd is a bunch of people who have worthless degrees and no real skills. Instead of getting real jobs they prey on idiotic white guilt to sustain their diversity training industry. What's really frustrating is that only a very small minority of idiots actually believe this crap, but the mainstream American left has been too cowardly to stand up and say "this is bullshit."

Tim Wise is one of the most loathsome examples of this. He's a white guy who peddles white guilt to idiots (while living in a $600k house in a neighborhood that's almost minority-free .) It's pretty hard for me to put into words the level of contempt and hatred I feel for people like him. They're as bad as the KKK.

This is what happens when you let ignorant dogma get in the way of facts. Why it's almost like a ... religion. The religion of Equality, Sensitivity and Diversity.

of course they are racist. since they probably use white bread.

seriously tho. i am surprised no one has called the Bing Crosby song "White Christmas" as being racist. i mean look at the lyrics

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

damn evil racists.

Lets not disrespect religion.

Saying that PB&J sandwiches are racist makes Scientology look reasonable.

Having read the original article I have to say that the intent of her statement was correct; that using examples which seem ordinary to naturalized Americans can elicit a big WTF from non-naturalized persons, so the viewpoint of the student should be appreciated. It's basically the education equivalent to the sender/recipient model from interpersonal communications.

That being said the way she went about explaining it and everything else in the article was completely idiotic.

What about the viewpoint of the girl or white boy that wants to bang a drum?

Gutierrez denies that any students were turned away from the drum corps, and vehemently rejects any suggestion that it is discrimination to offer a club catering to minority boys.

“When white people do it, it is not a problem, but if it’s for kids of color, then it’s a problem?” says Gutierrez, 40, an El Paso, Texas, native whose parents were Mexican immigrants. “Break it down for me. That’s your white privilege, and your whiteness.”
That's straight from the PC looney bin, there.

Another telling tidbit, though less about this specific issue:
“My first year as principal, I looked at the data and found that the eighth-graders that year, a third of them were going to Madison (High School) at about a third-grade level,” she told the Tribune. “I said, ‘This is completely unacceptable.’ “
Of course, this begs the question: if they can be identified as being many grades behind, WTF are they doing being passed?

http://portlandtribune.com/pt-rss/9-news/114604-schools-beat-the-drum-for-equity

The PB&J bit had what it took to get attention, but it wasn't poorly explained or out of context or any such thing. It's just what you should expect when Glenn Singleton was involved at any point. Yeah, my local school district is doing it, too. It's been good for the private schools, from what I've heard .

Only a fool would argue systematic racism isn't there, but all this PC BS is creating a kind of racial Streisand effect, leaving less mental attention and social opportunity to perform schooling.

I just had one with strawberry lemonade jam.
So, I get the idea you may have problems with Asians and Native Americans...
