Peculiar autoplay glitch with WMPlayer

Quite annoying actually, when I load any disc into my drive, Windows Media Player opens. I have tried turning off all autoplay options in the drive, checking for any suspicious files in msconfig and trying every possible setting within media player itself. It doesn't matter what the disc is (game, movie or whatever) that's inserted and the program is easily cleared, but it is really bugging me. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Oh, this problem is on an Asus W2jB with Windows MCE (autoplay on that is disengaged in msconfig), 2GB RAM, T2500 CPU, X1600 vid card and a Matsushita UJ-846 slot loading optical drive. The machine works great otherwise and I haven't loaded any new programs lately. I hope someone out there has an idea about this. Thanks.

Maybe try setting autoplay using the tweakui powertoy.

No good so far. It seems like WMP has gone "undead" on me. It just keeps opening and staring at me every time I insert any disc. Even game discs. It's creepy I tell ya' and it's really starting to freak me out. Any ideas please?

Bump for any new ideas.
In addition, videos in the condensed WMP on MSNBC sometimes play without sound.
All drivers are correct and everything else on the system works flawlessly.
I have also tried backing off audio acceleration to no avail.
Any suggestions here?
