really? it worked on a lab?

I am not trying to threadcrap but I bought it when it first came out and it wasn't strong enough for our 2 jack russel mix dogs. i ended up returning it. I figured it would only be good for cats or tiny, paris hilton sized dogs

Yup, I heard it's sht for dogs with dark claws (harder). If your pet has soft claws this will work, but for harder the wheel will get hot after spinning longer and potentially hurt your pet.

Please do some research on the net before buying this. Most people that are serious about doing a good job trimming their pet's nails use the Dremel for pets. No matter what you use, you CAN hurt your pet. Please educate yourself fully on this subject before diving in.

Pet Dremel at Amazon $22

This site has some great tips for getting your dog used to the Dremel and how to do the trimming without hurting them.

I know that this is a threadcrap, but I hate to see people buy something and not use it when a better alternative is better at a decent price. Be nice to those doggies!

my dog hates this thing. then again, he's scared of the remote control, so it's not this thing in specific he hates. he also hates anything coming near his paws.

Does he hate a treat coming near his paws?

If you want something like this, you may as well want to find a deal on a regular Dremel. Make sure it is corded. Then there is 1001 things you can use it for. The heat would be the critical factor here when doing a dogs nails. I am not sure this is the best idea, but I have always wanted to try this with my dog.

this was my thought

wife got the cheap pedi-paws and it seemed alright, but it was really weak and once the dogs nail got stuck inside the rotor/saftey cover, so we brought it back

I was just like why don't I get us a REAL dremel so I can use it for DIY stuff and you can get the attachments for the dog's nails

You can just use normal human nail clippers for cat claws. Don't take off more than about 1-1.5mm-- really just the sharp tip of the claw-- this will keep it from bothering the cat.

Don't know about dog grooming, sorry.

I borrowed one of these from my cousin to test on my Whippet's nails. I liked the concept but it was definately weak. I thought maybe the batteries were running low but it sounds like they just come with a wimpy motor. Aside from the weak motor it did an admirable job and by having liver treats handy my dog didn't mind it too bad. Would be a nice prodict if it was a little more powerful

I was thinking about these for my whippets too... I've got one who wouldn't care a bit and the other one freaks out if you just touch her toes... and she's had no bad experiences with clippings because her nails have never been clipped. Anyways... I'd go with a standard dremmel rather than the above product. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from dealextreme and have been happy with everything... but I've always gotten exactly what I paid for... nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, I generally keep my mouth shut, but I do have to say, I got one for my dog and 2 cats, from walmart for $10, the Pedi Paws, seen on TV, and the very moment we turned it on my dog flipped out, and my wife with the one cat went insane gave her a huge gash on her arm trying to get away. Needless to say, it never got used and was returned right away.

It really would depend on your animal. If you can turn on the vac, or a grinder wheel, or air gun and it doesnt run off but wants to see whats up, get it they wont mind. If you got a pet that the moment you try to suck up the carpet hits the sticks, or attacks the vacuum, I HIGHLY say stay away unless you want stitches, for it is quite loud and scary to a pet that is easily spooked.
