I believe werepossum got my little joke from the beginning, for he might be a little more versed on the bible than you, (bible, versed, get it? knee slap)
Anyway, all joking aside, a question was asked, "what would Jesus do? It made me think of John, chapter 8

They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
I believe this is the essence of Christianity, the ending of the Old Testament rules. For when Jesus offered to pay for our sins with His life, He also removed our right and obligation to morally judge without need. There are definitely times when we must judge people's character - elections, selecting a babysitter, selecting a prospective mate, making a loan. But in general, our right to morally judge another's Grace ended with our obligation to do so. And I dare say there are damned few among us who would not benefit from more concern for our own choices and less for our neighbors'.

Well said, and I fully agree that it's fine to discriminate (like you said) with regard to people in whom we'd entrust the care of our children (hell yes), for example, or people on internet forums whom we think are assholes (ha!, not you).

What I'm trying to say is judgement should not equal condemnation.

However, none of those refusals were based on gender, race, national origin, religion, age, marital status, sexual identity or disability.

Sexual orientation is not a protected class in the majority of the country. Not yet anyways.

Sadly.

So, it's Federal, but not all states, right?

Is that going to fall into place because of marriage rights legislation, or does that have to be a separate battle?

edit: Please forgive my ignorance.

Sarcasm, yes.

Sometimes I judge you, but never would I condemn you.

Yeah, I think most of us got the Biblical reference.

The "whore" comment, however, demanded a little clarification.

You WERE joking, right?
I added the whore part to lightheartedly point out the absurdity of the doctors actions. There are no caviots to Gods love. What God did she pray to? She could have made up any number of reasons for not wanting to take them on, and no one would have been the wiser. IMHO, the couple could have handled it a bit better as well. From time to time you're going to run into people that just don't like you. Ignore them and move on, (unless there's a big payday :awe: ).
I love you, and do not condemn you ()

But you've got the gay D:

None of which excuses forced servitude.

"I am gay so you have to serve me against your will."

What about blacks? "Look whitey, I am black so you "have" to serve me against your will."

As such we create a servant and master society.

And the piece of shit racist/bigoted troll resurfaces from the shit pile. WBFYB, enjoy your next one...

In case you did not know I have been away working. Some of us have to work for a living. My first tugboat job did not have wifi. The new company provides wifi so I can use a laptop to get on the net.

As for your comments about being a bigot, how is opposing forced servitude being a bigot?

If you force someone to do something against their will that is involuntary servitude, which is prohibited by the 13th amendment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Key words "involuntary servitude."

And the patient is free to find another provider.

Freedom does not include being punished for exercising our rights. If the doctor were to resign that would be a financial punishment for exercising his/her rights.

Can you point us to what document says she has a right to run a business open to the public?

What a piece of shit. It's too bad that religion infects even the most intelligent, most-necessary of us like health care and other sciences.

That's not involuntary servitude. Her entire labor as a doctor benefiting someone else would qualify as such. But she is operating as a doctor presumably of her own free volition. And doctor's take an oath to help those in need. While their situation was not dire the lesbian couple still came to her with a need. And she broke her oath because she feels her moral compass is superior to that oath. How petty. Better doctor's than her have saved the lives of enemy combatants who would have killed them in battle if that's where they had first met.

your GP (Local Doctor), will choose ONE and only ONE doctor (Hospital) for you to see. Since you are NOT paying for the service (directly), you don't have a lot of choice on this (although sometimes there is a bit of flexibility).
I think this is horrible.
I don't know how I'd feel if I couldn't choose my doctors.

You are paying for it, you just don't see it directly.

In my country, we see it because it's obligatory but private insurance (with subsidies for the poor in addition to welfare for those with no income at all, so coverage ends up being like socialized medicine, but it's a capitalist approach, although it's highly regulated with regards to not being able to refuse basic coverage and other various stuff to contain costs), so it's separate from taxes. And you get to see that it's a lot of money.

Just another follower of that religion that teaches people to hold infants accountable for the sins of their parents... Oh, there's no religion that teaches that? Well then she's just an asshole.

I'm just going to leave this here...

Exodus 20:5 You are not to bow down to them in worship or serve them, because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of the parents to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

Regardless I don't agree with what the doctor did.

And then I'm just going to leave this here.

Ezekiel 18:20 The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.
