PeerGuardian 2 is Methlabs' premier IP blocker for Windows. With features like support for multiple lists, a list editor, automatic updates, and blocking all of IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc), PeerGuardian 2 is the safest and easiest way to protect your privacy on P2P. Plus, by integrating with Blocklist.org, lists are built custom just for you.

Is it anything like Protowall? I tried installing that but it never worked.

When it actually bloody works, Protowall is pretty decent. PeerGuardian is better for "hey, I installed it and it works without sacrificing several chickens!".

links seem to be good now, anyone give it a go yet ?

I still have PGLite installed so I would like to know about the footprint on PG2..

PG1 was upwards of 10mb, PGLite is currently < 2mb...

what about it doesn't work ?

I wouldn't mind hearing the answer to this.
ummm... because it relies on IPs to protect your privacy? Is it really that much of a stretch to think that the MPAA and RIAA might use "honeypots" that are outside their usual IP ranges to track other IPs?

This is true. But as they find more and more of these "honeypots" they post these as well. PG isn't the best and most reliable, but when used in combination with another app, which has updated black lists almost daily, it is.

Is it so much of a stretch to think that there are people dedicated to finding outside IP ranges for these companies?? Granted, there will still be IP ranges that aren't blocked, and should be, but those can be found within days, limiting the amount of time your vulnerable to those ranges.

ok, that was the expected answer. And if it (or any other method) was foolproof, then everybody would be pirating (and nobody would be scared sh!tless). This is called a deterrent. It blocks a ton of ranges and all it doesn't seem to block are IPs allocated to home cable/dsl modem users' ISPs (usual peers)... so if the honeypots are amongst them, then good luck to all piraters.

I heard Verizon was one of the ISPs cooperating with MPAA/RIAA if asked.
