This was not about how many votes who has in the House, this was about who is going to take ownership of the shutdown. If it was looking like the Democrats would have to own this they would have worked harder to make a deal. Once he said he could get the house in a second she knew she could use that to wind him up, so that is what they did. They wound him up until he said what they wanted, that HE would shut down the government if he didn't get his way.

Now no matter how this goes down this is going to be labeled the #TrumpShutdown. He all but removed any reason for the Democrats to work with him. Now they can just let it shut down and wait for the new Congress to be seated.

Pelosi has always been underestimated. By both sides.
Pelosi is a talented strong woman and fighter and politician.
A little too optimistic at times, but she's pretty good at predicting and reading the pulse of the country.
If I were Donald Trump, I'd watch my step carefully when dealing with Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy is like an elevator, at first she tries to keep it on top floor.
She tries to keep it on an adult level.
But if the situation calls for taking the gloves off, dropping down a few floors, Nancy is up to that.
And if the situation calls for hitting the basement bottom, taking it as low as it can go, Nancy is well capable of that too.
