Decently warm I think? Lowest price on the CPU by itself that I can find is $206 at ZZF. Here it's slightly cheaper and you get a free mobo basically.

Don't know about the overclockability of this motherboard. If you plan on high overclocks with an 800fsb Pentium D you'll likely have to pony up for one of those Asus boards.

Ad states $319.98 regular price - $120 instant gift rebate = $199.98 in-store price after instant gift rebate. Limit 1 per customer. Might be available in other Fry's regions as well.

FYI, the board overclocks to 1066FSB nicely. Thats 3.724GHz. Wouldn't go much beyond that, I wasn't sure if it was the CPU, memory, or the board. I'm running at 1000FSB= 3.5GHz to be safe. Working with zero issues for a couple of days now. One trick is that you have to sync. the PCI-e bus or it won't go past 888FSB. That means my PCI-e is at 125Mhz, slightly disturbing, but it seems to work.

What speed are you runnng the DDR2 RAM at? Is there multiplier that allows the use of 4200 DDR2?

Does anyone know if this is just Frys in SF? I'd hate to go all the way over there from San Jose...

Last I heard, they didn't have a location in the city. Closest one would be the Palo Alto or Sunnyvale store.

Yes, you can choose between 400, 533, and 667 memory speeds, which with the processor's rated 200MHz FSB translates to 1:1, 3:4, and 3:5. I have mine set to 533 (3:4) and then OC the bus to 250 which yields 667Mhz. That's why I picked 250FSB to throttle back to. When I pushed up to 267 FSB, the memory was overclocked and even when I backed off the timings to 5-5-5-15 I had a couple of odd program crashes over a few hours. I suppose I could have tried the 1:1 multiplier, but I didn't bother. Rock stable now and using 4-4-4-12 timings @ 667 MHz.

For you, the 1:1 setting at 266FSB would give 533MHz (PC4200) timings. If your processor doesn't go that high, you might have to back off the timings a bit.

The PCIe sync. issue is becoming more of a problem, though. At 125Mhz, a couple of odd things happen.

1. SATA drives not recognized if I set the OC in the BIOS so I have to do the FSB adjustment after boot.

2. Some games have minor sound stuttering, probably a timing issue with the built-in audio.

Today's the last day on this AFAIK.

This is for all stores in the SF Bay Area. There isn't an actual Fry's store in SF itself. For locations see here.

FWIW, my MB temp is 28C and Processor is 35C idle and 46C full load. Antec Sonata II case.

Note that if your processor temp gets up to its maximum rated temp (for the D 920 it's 68C), the thermal protection circuitry will severely throttle the CPU to protect it, so that could be your problem.
