RE:"First..don't bring all the AMD craps here."

Interesting. You seem to have no problem with putting inferior intel craps in there. lol

With mad multitasking like that, the dualcore pentium4s. And 2GB of RAM.

music playing, chat, firefox with 20 tabs, aim with 10 tabs, msn with 5 tabs, mixing music..something like that

That's hardly mad multitasking. Firefox and aim can sit idle while he chats on msn. A P3 1GHz would probably suffice for this.

You're really just looking to blow some money on a toy. A Pentium-D would be the coolest one to have.

A 3.2GHz P4 is fairly SLOW in single-thread apps. Enjoy.

It stands for dual core. Straight from the horse's mouth. On the other hand, the "D" in Celeron D doesn't really stand for anything, since it isn't even the fourth Celeron core design Intel has put out - it is the "F" revision if you count the change from the original cacheless Slot 1 Celerons to the 128k version as a major revision.

Guys thanks for all the suggestions, you guys kept saying the A64 X2 is cheaper than the Pentium D but I don't know how? The cheapest X2 CPU right now is like what..around $500ish? The Pentium D 820 is priced around $250 right now and the 830 is around $320ish. I already got rid of the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and currently having a trade with 6600GT PCI-E motherboard. I feel somewhat laggy when doing all those at same time (video playing while encoding/extracting, etc) that' why I'm shootting for a Pentium this time, heard it is better than A64 if I don't game that much. I might still consider the X2 if the price came out close to the Pentium D...

for gaming, get the pentium m. it's better than the pentium d.

for multitasking, get the pentium d.

if you wait a bit, you can get pentium m yonah, which is gonna be better than the dothan. i'm willing to bet that it'd still beat the x2 chip.

p.s. the x2 beats the pants off of the pentium d. the pentium d sucks a dick when it comes to gaming performance versus price.

Well the problem is I don't reall care about gaming at all..I rarely game, and if I do I only play Warcraft III, a low end AXP or P4 with ti4200 can run it with highest setting..

No, it's not. He has a s754 board.

Keep in mind that not all lagginess from multitasking comes from the processor. If you are playing video while extractiing RAR files or encoding, your system could also be getting bottlenecked at your hard drive. If that's the case, then mutliple processor cores may not help out as much as getting another hard drive dedictated to video work. It's amazing how much better most video encoding apps run when you have the source files on a different drive than your output file. With a single 160 GB drive running your OS, swapfile, scratch files (if you are using Adobe apps) and being the source and output locations for your video and music files I can see some serious potential for you to become I/O bottlenecked.
