I will never forget what I saw one day. The horrid nature of it has forever been singed into my mind. I was at Walmart* and I was putting my items into my trunk while across the aisle was a woman loading up her SUV. I watched her take her shopping cart** and place it to the right of her vehicle. My jaw nearly touched the ground. You may wonder why I was so taken aback by her actions, but I think you would be too if you saw that she was parked right beside the cart return... except it was
to the left of her vehicle. Yes, she literally would have made the same amount of effort to actually put the cart back, but she actively chose not to do so.
*Note: Went to Walmart? I expect someone to post a "there's your problem" meme.
**Note the use of "shopping cart" (or simply "cart") not buggy, you weird southerners!
Although, I felt a little bad one day. I know I had a cart, but as I was driving away, I couldn't remember for the life of me whether I put the cart away or not. I was tempted to drive back and check, but I didn't.
Uhh, I think you have it backwards. People don't do that because there aren't enough spaces. They do that so people won't park close to them and they can swing their doors as wide as they want. That's why people in this thread revel in reducing their clearance by squeezing in anyway. It's frustrating enough when some jerk wastes two good close spaces like that and is too lazy to park farther, but it's a million times worse when there is no other parking when there would be if that jerk hadn't wasted one.
Actually, I bet the people in the photos didn't even realize that they took up more than one spot, and when they got out of their vehicle, I doubt that they cared much to fix it.
If I see someone leaving their cart in the parking lot I walk over and get it and take it to the return for them so they feel like a lazy asshole.
I usually pick them up if they're along the way when I'm walking into a store, and sometimes I'll be wheeling around about 4-5 carts stacked together. I've had a few people think that I'm actually a store employee until I put the carts in the cart return and walk away.
