Thanks.

...Isekii.

My Dell sales rep is a horrible human being.

He messes up my quotes all the time.

But the TSR (supervisor) gets them right, and many times can give me about ~1000 dollars off a 4-4.5k order.

Our sales rep typically cannot beat our Premier Page discount most of the time.. but, our discount seems decent enough most of the time.

Our rep is so-so. Messes up orders fairly often, sometimes you can find better deals through their own web page.

My sales rep is AWESOME. He usually kicks out some insanely cheap quotes. Usually it's 15-20% less than the price on the site and 7% cheaper than our Premier page. He is a "Senior Account Manager" if that makes a difference.

Do you know if you can request a certain person for quotes ?
I really don't like our Dell Rep.
also can you PM me his name and number by any chance ?

Thank You.

Why do you guys all buy Dell? Do you buy everything from them, (Licensing, accessories, etc. ?)

I work for PC Connection and could probably help some of you guys out if you wanted better pricing on NON Dell stuff.

I don't control it at my current job, and they're actually an HP shop here anyway, but the Dell rep I dealt with at my last job was awesome. How far they can discount for you depends on a lot more things than who they are, though. How many machines you order in a year, how many you're ordering at a time, how long you've been with them, and it doesn't hurt if you're willing to make tradeoffs in specs.

well we order from dell, because

1. there prices are pretty good
2. usually includes 19"-20" lcd
3. easier to deal with when getting warranty work done.

I'll give you that their pricing is pretty good. However, HP has plenty of bundles that now include monitors as well. Their service is great on the business side for either on site, depot, or just general phone support.

For instance, here is a good deal they have been running lately....

HP DC5800 Core2 E8400 / 3GB RAM / 160GB / DVD+-RW / 22" LCD / Either VB or XPP

At 879.00 List price, really not a bad deal at all on the business end. You could probably see a small discount off list to somewhere around 820.00 with a business account.

What about other stuff though, do you guys have a licensing agreement with MS? Do you buy mostly OEM stuff? What about your backup software like CA or your Symantec stuff?

Do you just one stop shop all through Dell or would you shop around that product as well?

Edit. To clarify..... if you would EVER be interested in getting competitive quoting on ANYTHING IT related I'd be more than happy to help you out, albeit I can't quote Dell anything of course.

We dont go through a sales rep, a preimere page is much eaiser to use.

The reason we use Dell is because they have the completecare warranty, and nifty little office setups for laptops.

I will never buy anything HP. Looking inside an HP compared to a dell you can see an HP is has a shitty build quality. The school district I went to and my co-worker used to work for work for used use them all the time. Their support sucks.

I will never be interested in getting a quote on HP products.

OP, sorry my rep can't help you - he's assigned on the Government side... but he sucks compared to our last one.

I've seen inside many HP's, Dells, etc. I'll tell you Dell doesn't always standardize product like HP, Lenovo, etc.

For instance, you place an order for 100 generic boxes. In that 100 box order, you'll receive the same spec of course, however you may run into 25 Asus boards, some Gigabyte, etc. etc. because they don't standardize manufacturers for their computers.

When troubleshooting, or loading propreitary software / hardware that can make for a real pain in the ass if you are trying to standardize.

I don't know how many people I can find that tell you Dell sucks, in my opinion none of the major manufacturers "suck" as it's almost impossible to find someone that can provide the best support, price, and hardware at all times.

I have people that will never buy (Insert MFG name here) for various reasons, but if you look at the list, every manufacturer is on it!

Dell uses all foxconn motherboards, and have for years. I've never had any problems with their support, usually tell them what I need and they have it to me the next day.

I can't really speaking about desktop/workstation quality for HP or Dells since I haven't touched them in years, but IMO HP owns the market on server and blade infrastructure. With the value-added tools you get with their C-Class blades, ILO2, ICE, SIM, etc. makes it a helluva lot easier to manage. Plus they make some kick ass quality servers. I also enjoy working on their EVA SANs, even though they can get a little pricey.

Usually, I'm just telling you what I have seen. In regards to the support, isn't that what usually happens? I'm not bashing Dell here....

Our sales rep is Andrew MacGregor. He's the 5th different one we've had in the last year. All but one of them has been willing to lower the prices on anything we want. If it's a non Dell branded item I search the web for the cheapest price from the shadiest type business and tell them to beat that price and they will.

Ehh....all oem builders have pros and cons. I've always had good luck with Dell and HP when I was in a corp environment. But Gateway....don't get me started on those fuckers. NOT a good corp choice.

Now I repair all these brands. Somewhere in the order of 10 machines a day some days. Dell can have model A that will take a standard power supply when it needs it, then a $150 proprietary power supply in model B which may not be worth it given the situation.

You tend to see these issues more so with HP than Dell, but now with BTX it's becoming less of an issue. Personally I'll go with a local VAR on desktops and build clone PC's with a 2 year warranty, NO bloatware, NO proprietary parts, XP if I want it, AND a two year warranty where my VAR will RMA anything and everything I bring him, including whole systems.

The only down side is he doesn't do laptops.

So actually, if you wanna pm me your info, I may be interested in some white box or oem laptops from you if the price is right.

Where have you been hiding?

I have only sold one HP Blade solution before, mostly just their DL line rack servers....

Where have you been buying your HP stuff from?

Our rep has never really been very good. We usually just forgo him and use our business account without him and get deals some other way (coupons, discounts, sales, etc).

Amazingly, the best rep we deal with is our Sprint rep. He's absolutely great.
