Our sales rep typically cannot beat our Premier Page discount most of the time.. but, our discount seems decent enough most of the time.

My sales rep is AWESOME. He usually kicks out some insanely cheap quotes. Usually it's 15-20% less than the price on the site and 7% cheaper than our Premier page. He is a "Senior Account Manager" if that makes a difference.

Why do you guys all buy Dell? Do you buy everything from them, (Licensing, accessories, etc. ?)
I work for PC Connection and could probably help some of you guys out if you wanted better pricing on NON Dell stuff.

I'll give you that their pricing is pretty good. However, HP has plenty of bundles that now include monitors as well. Their service is great on the business side for either on site, depot, or just general phone support.
For instance, here is a good deal they have been running lately....
HP DC5800 Core2 E8400 / 3GB RAM / 160GB / DVD+-RW / 22" LCD / Either VB or XPP
At 879.00 List price, really not a bad deal at all on the business end. You could probably see a small discount off list to somewhere around 820.00 with a business account.
What about other stuff though, do you guys have a licensing agreement with MS? Do you buy mostly OEM stuff? What about your backup software like CA or your Symantec stuff?
Do you just one stop shop all through Dell or would you shop around that product as well?
Edit. To clarify..... if you would EVER be interested in getting competitive quoting on ANYTHING IT related I'd be more than happy to help you out, albeit I can't quote Dell anything of course.

I've seen inside many HP's, Dells, etc. I'll tell you Dell doesn't always standardize product like HP, Lenovo, etc.
For instance, you place an order for 100 generic boxes. In that 100 box order, you'll receive the same spec of course, however you may run into 25 Asus boards, some Gigabyte, etc. etc. because they don't standardize manufacturers for their computers.
When troubleshooting, or loading propreitary software / hardware that can make for a real pain in the ass if you are trying to standardize.
I don't know how many people I can find that tell you Dell sucks, in my opinion none of the major manufacturers "suck" as it's almost impossible to find someone that can provide the best support, price, and hardware at all times.
I have people that will never buy (Insert MFG name here) for various reasons, but if you look at the list, every manufacturer is on it!

I can't really speaking about desktop/workstation quality for HP or Dells since I haven't touched them in years, but IMO HP owns the market on server and blade infrastructure. With the value-added tools you get with their C-Class blades, ILO2, ICE, SIM, etc. makes it a helluva lot easier to manage. Plus they make some kick ass quality servers. I also enjoy working on their EVA SANs, even though they can get a little pricey.
bingo. And we have a huge contract with dell... soo... yeah. They get pretty much all our business.Originally posted by: isekii

well we order from dell, because
1. there prices are pretty good
2. usually includes 19"-20" lcd
3. easier to deal with when getting warranty work done.
