DUI deaths are about 16,000. Many will say only 1/3 of those were directly caused by the alcohol...(based on only 1/3 of all accidents have alcohol attached to them to begin with).

Add that to many happening at night where sleep and other things could contribute.

Plus most DUI deaths are self-inflicted and there are no third-parties.

Also even if another sober motorist would have been at fault, the other driver drinking trumps that.

Any death sucks, but the whole DUI/DWI is a media favorite. It also is one of the biggest revenue generators at about $4000-5000 per arrest in revenue pulled in.

Really? Is that the best you got? The topic is about drinking at bars... which requires people to drive home, and a good portion drive drunk... it also happens to cause more deaths x4 than all illicit drugs together... since most people consider drug users to be "losers", I think it is appropriate to call these drinkers losers too.

Aww the person with no friends is SO CUTE!!!

IF DUI arrests are such huge revenue generators, we need to do more of them. Let's start parking cops outside all the bars at night and nail the drunks who think they should drive home after having a few...

Damn...we could put an big dent in the state budget deficit that way...

The revenue it generates is peanuts compared to how much stands to be lost. A dude gets a DUI in CA, he has a huge fine + a mandatory 30 day impound on his car. After all's said and done it can run him $10k or more to get his car back, but many people can't afford that, so they end up losing their car. Because after 30 days of impound the car goes to the auto auction. And if you lose your car to a DUI you have to pay the ticket before you can get your car out. Not many people can just pull $10k out of their ass. A lot of times this leads to them losing their job, that's assuming they don't lose their licenses which means even if they manage to come up with the $10k to get their car back they can't drive it. I've worked at multiple liquor stores, many of the dudes who came in who got DUI's ended up unemployed and unable to pay the ticket. With no car they were out of work and pretty much fucked.

That's assuming they want the car back, and even if they have the $$$, nobody with half a brain's going to pony up $10k to get a car that's only worth 4k out of impound. Many ignore the ticket and continue to drive a different car. They end up with a bench warrant and will probably serve time before they pay the ticket off. Jail = the state spending money on dude. That's assuming they ever get pulled over again. This is probably the reason why police don't post up outside of bars and night clubs, if the revenue was a clean $10k a pop with no side effects they'd be doing it all day. But the dudes who get popped and end up with nothing end up becoming a burden on the economy.

If you are out of college and still drinking like you are in college, be it in a bar or at your own home, then you are a loser. If you go to a bar to meet with friends or watch sport, at any age, you are only a loser if you drink excessively.

nevermind. This is such a retarded definition that I really don't even want to comment further.

Accidents can happen for a variety of reasons. My point earlier was that you're hyper inflating the negative of an otherwise enjoyable activity. Just like with most things in life, there are inherent risks with drinking, and it's up to the drinker to be responsible. I know I can drink, have fun, and still be in control and responsible for myself. Can you? I guess you wouldn't know.

Alcohol related deaths are 4x more than ALL ILLICIT drugs COMBINED! Those are the cited statistics. Please back up your claim that this is somehow hyper inflating...

Why are people allowed the most dangerous intoxicating substance while other drugs are considered evil? Because people can't control themselves and need to intoxicate?

No, I wouldn't know... because I never had an interest in using a mind altering drug. I'm quite happy with myself the way I am.

Hell, if drinkers only killed themselves, I wouldn't care less. However, it causes a ton of harm to innocents as shown.

4x more than all combined? Is this a normalized result?

Actually, after reading your post again, I think you may just be messing with us. At least I hope so.

You done evading yet? You need to support your mind altering substance of choice right?

evading what? Your overlooking the fact that booze directly supports hundreds of thousands if not millions of jobs providing more prosperity and good than anything negative you can try and falsely attribute to it. Bad people do bad things. Bad people who are drunk still do bad things.

I'm out every Friday night with my buddies to different clubs and bars to meet women, unless I'm out on a date. We never drink on those nights and we stick to half a dozen places where we can get free cover, so it's ridiculously cheap.

Most of my buddies are in their 20s, but there are a couple in their 30s. Same range for the women we meet, so it's not a problem.

I'm 27.

Will I still be doing this when I'm 30? Maybe...I'll likely go out every other week, be a good wingman and help out the new guys.

their darker beer, i think a dunkelweiss, is damn good as well

I liked these for some time, especially for the value, and especially the dunkel. Then, someone pointed out to me: "This kinda tastes like bananas!"

:hmm:

I was like....damn, it does taste like bananas.

It is forever tainted to me now. I still like the dunkelweisse, but I've also noticed that they are essentially the same beer. Both taste like bananas. the dunkel is simply darker. :\

I still enjoy it, but I prefer other dunkels.

lol, I can tell who the losers are in this thread.

the ones who go out every night and get wasted, forget everything, accomplish nothing?

Or the ones who go out a few times here and there, have a blast, whatever?

:hmm:
