I wouldn't call them "losers". I'd call them "married". Single folk will go out to bars until they're ready to drop dead of old age.
Going to a sports bar or lounge is different.

reading this thread i'm not sure i know what a bar is anymore.

i guess if you are 30 and single and go to a bar with friends that's sad? do work happy hours count?

i think clubs maybe are not an older person scene, but that's all just people's bias. do whatever floats your boat, fuck opinions

Yeah I don't quite get it either. I'll go out to a pub with some friends. Get a nice pint or two, some good food, catch a game, shoot some pool, shoot the bull. I don't see it any different than meeting up with a buddy for coffee at a cafe or say for lunch and stuff. It's a social outing.

"Goddamnit honey, looks like we're having ketchup sandwiches and mudpies again tonight."

Haha. Forget that, little Suzy wants a Jack and Coke. Looks like another liquid dinner tonight.

My view of this is one sided, so what does ATOT think? Are people who are in their 30's that still go to the bar or nightclubs every week losers?

How about people with 20,000+ posts on a technology forum?

If you're talking about an occasional stop for a beer, NO, but IMO, at any age, if your life revolves around the drinking establishment of your choice, then YES, you're a loser.

My brother-in-law who's about to turn 60 is just such a loser...and has been one his entire life.

Fortunately, once you pass your 30's, you realize that what other people think of you, and how you spend your time, is completely irrelevant.

shadow9d9 also lets his supposed 3 year old daughter plan the family meals. Ignore the idiot.

Step one on internet: Smear your opponent. NEVER address the arguments!

Boberfett is right by the way. We should all be so insecure and power deficient in our lives that we should not allow 8-18 year olds to have a say in what food they get to eat. Giving up what little amount of pathetic power you have(over your kids) should never be given!

You are a virgin. Sex is inevitable, but a pussy ass prude makes you the biggest virgin by choice there ever will be.

You just quoted something that states clearly at the top that I am married and have a child. Ignoring the fact that sex has nothing to do with alcohol being the prominent mind altering killer in this country.

You people are pathetic. Worse than druggies. Again, it amazes me how one drug is deemed ok because our society is weak and addicedt, and meanwhile kills more than all of the other evil drugs combined...

Keep posting the pics of your mind altering substances you pathetic druggies. Remember, drugs are OK if YOU do it... and if you happen to kill people in a drunk driving accident, hell, a few thousand bucks will clear you to do it again!

Derp derp virgin!

No. If you're not married, have kids, go to church/temple/mosque, then it's your prerogative.

I don't think you understand why the majority of people drink. I pity your ignorance and complete detachment from reality.

They drink for many reasons. To alter their mind, get away from their troubles, feel "cool" or with the "in" crowd, peer pressure, to lower resistance to difficult actions(loosen up).

In the end, it doesn't matter. We allow the most damaging drug to society, the one that kills innocent bystanders in drunk driving accidents over and over, while demonizing every other drug. We are a hypocritical and pathetic society.

1. Ask for evidence of claims.

2. Ignore evidence because it is damning and just smear user.

Always works on the internet.

this.

i enjoy going to the bar every now and then with friends. we get to have a few beers, some good food and enjoy there company.

i do think people that have to go to a bar 3-4 nights a week have issues.

You're only a loser if you're at a bar that is not within your age. For example if you're 30 do not go to a college bar full of just 21yr olds.

Other than that I think it's perfectly fine.

aww shit, im screwed then... im over 40 and most of my friends are 32-37, i hang with them at bars on occasion. not every weekend, but we do go out. i never considered that i may look like the old guy hanging out at a younger crowd bar. dammit.

I personally think its stupid to go to bars when I have a bar with beer on tap in my sweet ass basement, with a 120 inch projector, 2 thousand + movies, wine cellar, galaga, pacman, and a collection of music that makes most libraries cry...oh and a humidor filled with cigars from my trips to south america...

I could go out and sit in a shitty seat around people smoking shitty cigarettes, spending money they dont have trying to be cooler than they are.. or I can select the people I want to see....older wiser....

I dig man caves.

This girl at a bar was talking to me for a little bit when I was ordering drinks. It was just a small conversation, but when I told her I was 24, she looked at me like I was a grandpa. She was 21 btw. I know that its unlikely that a 21 year old would think 24 is old, but it did happen to me, lol.

If your 40ish and your friends are mid 30's I think its fine. What might make you seem like a loser is if you go to bars where the majority are young college students. You'll feel like a crypt keeper if you go there.

The human race is a flawed creature, well except for you of course.

haha ya i do feel like a cryptkeeper... i have a cousin that is in his mid 20s that goes to ASU and drags me to the bar sometimes, and he always gets me in bars by ASU. its weird for me, but he doesnt like going to "old guy" bars. i havent ever tried theh whole flirting thing in any bar (was married for a couple decades until recently) so i havent gotten any weird looks so far. at least to my face lol.
