People pissing on Religion think they so Smart

I've noticed a lot of people pissing on religion(s) and saying how stupid people are, sounding like they are God's gift from heaven. So for all these people who think they are so smart thinking there is no God or higher being, etc, what if you're wrong? So if there IS a God, and you guys are all burning in hell, does that actually make you really dumb yourselves? Let's think about this in a "intelligent" or mathmatical way:

Let's take the scenario, that the probability of God's existance is 0.01:

So p(God exists) = 0.01 p(God not exist) = 0.99

You decide not to believe in God. You piss on everyone that believes, and you ridicule and persecute (basically everything God said people would do if you believe in Him). So basically you take this stance:

(0.01 * Eternity in Hell) + (0.99 * You become nothing and lived like a shthole your whole life)

As opposed to believers:

(0.01 * Eternal Life) + (0.99 * Hey, at least you lived a good life)


So for you non-believers, I'm not telling you to stop talking smack (for it's God's free will that allows you to), maybe you should stop and think before you make assumptions, persecute, and think you're Einstein. Maybe you should stop and think if it's really worth it.

PS. even change 0.01 to 0.0001, or 1 - .999bar


EDIT: Eternity in Hell =/= if you live choosing not to believe in God and live a truly good life. Assume Eternity in Hell is only for shtty people.

EDIT2: "Believers" who sht on non-believers are truly not "believers." So don't pull that one; Believer = man who believes in God, doesn't live like a hypocrite, persecuted by man.

If god is going to punish me to eternal damnation for not believing in him, while I lead a fair and honest life in all other areas, than I would rather burn in hell. The entire concept of going to hell for using our free will to decide what we choose to believe in is utter BS.
If "god" is peaceful and loving I don't think it would matter, unless his ego is so large as to force mass burnings for not having faith in something we can not see.

One of the fallacies with Pascal's Wager is that you're assuming there's only one possible religion/God to believe in.

And why the fck would you want to worship and heap piles of adulation upon a God that threatens you with an eternity in Hell if you don't? Such a God would not be worthy of a wet fart from me...

I don't bash religious people. I even go to church with my mom on occasion. But I simply don't believe, and faking belief just in case is silly in my opinion.

If there is a God, who's to say that if you don't belive you'll go to hell? From your arguement it sounds like you belive in God to cover all your bases, are you trying to pull a fast one on GOD?!?!

it's either 1) another way to rile people up and ethug out or 2) another reason to make everyone else miserable because the person is miserable. i have lost my faith in the last few years but i don't go around pissing on people who do believe. it's not worth arguing with someone who is like that because it just gives them more reasons to show ethug out.

Here's an easier way to think about his probability..

If they non-believers are right...then nothing happens to the believers and nothing happens to the non-believers.

If the believers are right...then they go to heaven and the non-believers don't...

I like the odds for the believers betters - either way they come out ok.

I don't advocate claiming people with faith in Zeus or Jesus are stupid, but Pascal's wager (and your paraphrasing of it) certainly is.
