That's nice of them, but is grabbing them by the tail and pulling them back out to sea really the best way to do that? I'd think you'd want to try to lift them from underneath...

I wonder if human intervention has always played a part in dolphin suicide cults.

Osmotic pressure maybe? Where's a marine biologist when you need one?

There's gotta be a reason why all dolphins/whales don't beach themselves. That'd what I'd do if I had to live under the sea but breathe air...

Whatever you do don't go to P&N and read about the baby dolphin.

I kind of figured that's where the thread originated from to begin with.

I'd actually believe there is some truth in the various Navies blasting sonar in tests from subs near them, but got me.

Does seem odd some pods of whales/dolphins just go beserk out of nowhere occasionally.

I won't bother with any extended comments.

Do you have any idea how much a dolphin weighs? A typical bottlenose dolphin weighs between 300-400 lbs.

You ain't lifting that.

Even smaller dolphins will still weigh well over 150 lbs. And are slippery. And you're in the surf. And they're flipping around. And you're trying to walk.

So no, you're not going to be carrying them like a sack of potatoes to deeper water.

Further, as Dolphins obviously don't have gills, the direction of water rushing over them has no effect. Dehydration sun exposure, though, does.

I am disappoint.

I was hoping to gain some tips for the proper storage of Mahi Mahi you get at the beach.

I'm starting to think Ronald Hump is right: we need to build a seawall to keep out all these Mexican dolphins.

Humans retarding evolution... They're just trying to walk, and it takes awhile to toughen up the fins.

haha, yea 25 dies but the 5 that adapt would start competing with us. Better to keep them in their place.

Why is it all men helping and women just watching?

Isn't that they way it's supposed to be? The women are the ones that actually care about the dolphins, while the men are driven to action by their desire to procreate with the women.

Nvm. This could lead to discussions way outside this thread.

I won't lie. My first thought when I clicked on the thread was, "How does one save a bleached dolphin?"
