People still get killed over sneakers?

I had to wait in line last week at 6am for some Jordans my son wanted for Christmas. I'm the most pleasant and polite person in the world, but some group of hoodrats thought that it was OK to walk right in front of me in line, and that didn't go well.

I can see how murders happen with a certain group of people.

that's BS that he got arrested for that.

don't want to get shot? don't rob other people.

I agree to a point, but over a pair of shoes? There had to be more to it than just the dude running off with his shoes. They must have fought or something. The guy had a decent paying job. So for him to piss it away just over a pair of shoes would make him a dumbass.

This is nothing new. People have been going crazy for Jordans for years. IIRC, the original Jordan 11 in 1996 was one of the first shoes to actually sell out nation wide. I skipped school to get my Breds, and am glad I did.

What really pisses me off is I buy my Jordans online only now (I am not waiting in line in like 20 degree weather at 6AM on a Saturday, even in a nice neighborhood) and some asshat got the Nike link and tweeted it before Nike, so they were sold out of my size when Nike tweeted it... This is the first pair of 11s in years I didn't get. And it was a new colorway. =(

If its worth a lot of money then people are going to steal it and Nike has managed to keep their shoe prices very high thanks to successful marketing.

Because according to his mother, "shoes was his everything".

My god, reboot please!

Saw that in the article. Your life is really sad when shoe's are "your everything". I suspect it was the only thing the mother was willing to spend money on for him.

I purposely wear the cheapest shoe possibe, so no one every wants to steal them. That and because the first day you wear them they get all scuffed up.

where the hell do you live where shoe theft factors into the purchase decision?
a car? maybe... but even then, that's what insurance is for.
what a f'd up world we live in...

that's sad as shit... maybe hand out tickets? Air Jordan brand should guarantee people's safety and only release them at selected locations.. Prob cheaper than all the bad press they're getting.

I live in a very nice area and I try not to limit the places I wear my Yeezys.

Wait until next weekend and then see the shootings. The Red October Yeezys drop then, and if like every other pair, they will spike up to around $3,000+ on eBay.

Most stores do a raffle now (they draw the names the day before and call the people who won). The problem is that doesn't really stop people from robbing you.

*shakes head* half a week's pay for some bullshit shoes that don't offer any functional difference for the owner to $30 shoes from payless.

Half a week's pay? The shoes cost $185 + tax. You make less than $400 a week?

I agree, had it been Texas the guy doing the shooting would get a pat on the back for stopping the thief. You are allowed to use deadly force to protect your property if need be here.

This actually happened in Atlanta a couple months ago. Someone tried to rob someone in line for sneakers, and the guy shot him. Cops didn't arrest the guy who shoot nor did he lose his place in line.
