He's writing a,
poem.

Your sideview mirror is just fine. Because you are not going to drive the same way with your arm there and because you still have the option of retracting it and because sideswipes are already unlikely all add up to make it extremely unlikely your arm will get hurt.

Fair enough, I try to NOT use my AC as much as possible, I live in a hot, muggy state (FL) and IMO a person needs to get and retain acclimation to the climate your living in. Car AC's for some reason or other never seem to last the life of a car and repairs are expensive, so I only use mine when I'm stuck in traffic and it's 95+ outside..

Yup. The more you change from natural temperature, the worse it is when you get there. I'm in MD, and if I could save money by not getting AC in the car, I would. I don't think they make cars without AC anymore though. I wouldn't live in FL, so no opinion on that kind of misery :^D

I haven't had AC for about 6 years now. During the summer, it absolutely sucks driving home from work at 6pm in full business attire.
Even with the windows down, you sweat through your clothes.

I drive with my right arm hanging out the window just to mix it up. It's a bit of a stretch, and I can't really see the road while I do it, but that's just how everyone else knows how cool I am.

In fact I've exercised it on numerous occasions. At least twice I have taken off, "beat" the person acting like a douchebag next to me, proven my point with no drama and backed off well ahead of him after topping off at the posted limit, and said car does a fly by and gets lit up by the cop who was watching the whole thing.
Ha. My mom told a story similar to this. It was back when people raced on streets all the time. The guy next to her wanted to race, so she accelerated a bit harder to the speed limit just to humor the guy. The guy ended up going way faster than the limit and a cop nailed him for speeding. It goes back to that old saying that police randomly appear out of nowhere.

I drive with my elbow out the window because it feels nice. I still keep my hands inside the car because I'm weak I feel more comfortable when I steer with both hands.

Hey,
I drive with my arm out the window, it's fvcking comfortable and feels nice.

Sort of like how dogs are smart and their stick their head out the window when driving.

But don't worry, I have a forester, so it should be obvious I am not trying to "look cool".

I never put my arm out the window. Windows all the way down all the time, yes.
Part of it is that I have to shift so I can't just leave my arm out the window..

I went back to Mass for 3 weeks some time ago, when the plane de-boarded (back then at Daytona they used a powered stairway to the plane's door) I was like WTF, I live here!, took 2 weeks to get re-acclimated. Tough to find a car that does not have factory AC nowadays, even if you could find one don't buy it, it's re-sale or trade-in value would be nil..

I've always operated manual transmissions and I routinely rest my arm on the door with the window down in good weather.

There is rarely any reason to move my entire left arm over to steer while shifting. I set my steering angle with my right arm before I move it to the shifter and hold the wheel there with my knee or fingers of my left hand (no reason to move my elbow from the door). Some people may have trouble stabilizing with their knee when they are using both legs to operate pedals, but it works for most ~6' dudes in normal-sized cars.
