nntp is suck...

man I was in a binary group with 17,000+ headers and not one complete post. I had no choice but to goto an external news provider and when comparing between the external and nntp even the txt groups are running at 1/3 completion. even the post's YOU make in newsgroups only have a %10 chance on going into wide usenet and mostly only show up in local nntp servers, meaning that only about %10 of usenet outsite of rogers will see your post. nntp with teleglobe is truly pathetic to say the least.

but then, what's the use of the 3/day Gig limit if you can't download a complete post. Totally useless. As if I'm going to d/l 3 gigs of txt in 3 days.

they know damm well that if there ins't a complete post in 17 thousand headers that no one is going to d/l anyway. when you rent Bandwith from Teleglobe and 455,000 members can't download nothing it's a very nice move on their part. WHICH SUX MAJOR ASS FOR CUSTOMERS WHO PAY FOR IT

True and even then, guys I checked over the weekend with my external usenet provider and nntp is missing a truckload of posts. out of 10 post's I made in various newsgroups trough nntp only 1 showed up on my external usenet provider which has a weeks retention and %98 completion.

I did a check on a 3/day retention and nntp was missing at lest 3/4 of the post's. I'd say that nntp is running on a 3/day retention and between %10-%25 completion. Truly lame if you ask me.

My opinion on Rogers is that their own network is not finished and they need pay out the cheapest bandwitdth rental to collect the most Ca$h possible in order to finish paying their own network. In the meantime we the paying customers are being stiffed with the Walmart of internet service, the cheapest their is in order for Rogers to get cash. (nearly on par with Sympatico). in the meantime we has to suffer this lame service.

Yes PAR is a life saver.

Right now i am using both Rogers & @home nntp server to get my fills,but I think we will be really screwed when @home server finaly shutdown for good.
