Well, I'm just using the steam statistic as a spring board. I'm pretty sure that the total number of OC computers should be lower. But that's why this is opinions based.

I could `maybe´ see this being correct if it was ”overclocked at all if turbo counted”, but overclocked 3.7+? I definitely can't see this being accurate...

Steam (game client) statistics say 0.46% of CPUs are 3.7ghz and above.

Do you think the number is HIGHER than this or LOWER?

What would you think the percentage of overclocked computers are?

And i think it's Lower, i voted higher by mistake, wh00ps, in my own thread. LOL

Doesn't steam just take what windows states as the speed? I'd think the number would be higher that stated. If taken from windows I could see the numbers somewhat correct.

I think the actual % is way higher. As was already stated, MS research paper pegged the percentage of OCed CPUs at 2%.

My assessment was wrong. Absolutely no conclusions can be drawn from the given information.

I forgot that 3.73 GHz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition/Pentium Extreme Edition and 3.8 GHz Pentium 4s existed. All of those CPUs above 3.7 GHz could theoretically be at stock speed.

I have a Northwood Pentium 3.4Ghz that has been regularly clocked at 3.7. It will be part of my power-bill this month -- it's still running. I may have picked it up in 2005 or 2006 -- replacing a 2.4 Ghz Northwood . . . no . . . it was replacing the 3.2 Ghz Northwood that replaced the 2.4.

So I think I have a nearly brand-new processor replacement. Maybe some spare memory. But if I need a new motherboard, I'll have to work a deal with my sis-in-law to get back the D865-PERL board in the machine I built for her in 2003.

I don't care whether you've got your medical cannabis card. Maybe you can even tweak your computer without disaster in this state of mind. Just go ahead and enjoy yourself.

If you are able to process this . . . What chipset did ASUS put in that P5K mobo? Especially, am I right that you got the G0 stepping for the Q6600?

Every pc in my house is overclocked. Except for my notebook, which is underclocked and undervolted. lol. Oh and I have a via thinclient that is running at its stock 800MHz.

Steam. No overclock, at least not on my CPU. (I have the radeon 7750 Ghz edition, lol)

probably about 1-2% for Steam users, 0.1% for general population. There are a lot of Dells sitting in cubicles, after all.
