Hmm...then it could be due to overheating...what cooling are you using?

TTBT for CPU, stock for GPU. But I don't think that is the problem.

1)How come it was cool for a few days and then never became cool again.
2)Why isn't it as severe in Vista?
3)My temperatures seem pretty nice, atleast on idle.

Does anyone else have Morrowind? I'm assuming that's what MW is.

I'll need a point of reference, someone else to play at the same settings that he's attempting with similar hardware.

I don't play it on my current PC, but I know it played fine at 1024 x 768 on a crappy Radeon 9000 mobile with only 32MB of vram (only 64bit, too...) on my wife's laptop. I was wondering what MW was too.

Stupid question, but you are rebooting? Not leaving it on for 3 days then launching the game again and noticing slowdown?

I've always used MW for Mechwarrior. Of course MW4 is over 5 years old and plays well on any recent PC, probably even works great on integrated graphics now.

The MW is referring to Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Is your northbridge chipset fan still working?

EDIT: recheck BIOS settings. I had a virus or something from lots of downloads on eMule that changed BIOS settings. I had to reformat, delete primary partition, re-create primary partition, clear CMOS then re-do all BIOS settings completely.

I had a 1 in 3 chance. ES:MW, NFS:MW, MW (MechWarrior).

But NSF:MW has dungeons?

, it is MW, please stick to MW. Also, I found it inconsistent because I was getting 20FPS in the dungeons.

As already stated partially by some ppl..

1.Check your gpu temps through Rivatuner and monitoring.. Also check if the card is throttling.. Do you know what throttling is to begin with?
2. Check in start->run->dxdiag if agp texture and D3D acceleration are enabled..
3. Check cpu and northbridge cooler/fan if they work correctly and monitor temps..
4. Check ram instabilities with MemTest.. You say you are o/c right? Are you absolutely sure you have a stable o/cing? Are you Orthos prime stable? Is your ram capable of running at the speed of your fsb? Maybe you need a divider?
5. Use different set of mobo/gpu driver versions (even older) and test for inconsistencies..

Do ALL these first and then come back and give us feedback.. As I have said at a previous thread of yours, NOBODY can help you sometimes if you don't check some things for yourself.. All you seem to do is ask others and whine, and don't take their advice and check thoroughly your system.. What do you expect Akshayt you are doing the same mistakes repeatedly..

FEAR is a buggy game. A faster processor would definitely help but it would still probably not make it run right 100%.

I am running a C2D @ 3.2 and it's still a little choppy in places although I "only" have 1 gig of RAM running in dual channel and a 7900GS. I still managed to finish FEAR EP with no real issue and now that I have finished it, and don't play Oblivion, there is no other game that gives me trouble for now.

Sounds like a very badly fragmented hard drive and/or page file. Do you ever defragment? Did you defragment your drive imeediately after you installed your OS? You do know that your drive needs to be defragged after a fresh install, right?

I've seen similar issues with friends who use pirated versions of Windows.

This is what I'm going to assume is the case here.
Don't ask me why, but after legit versions of Windows were installed all there problems went away.

could be the problem here.

Yes/No?

My computer (A64 3500+ [2.2ghz], 256mb 7600gt, and 1.5gb of ram) gets over 30 fps in Need for speed Most Wanted at those settings he is running at. SOMETHING is wrong with his computer.

You have the perfect gaming rig for about 2 years ago. Please STOP expecting more out of what you have unless you're willing to deal with being disappointed.

The x1900xt wasnt available 2 years ago, but whatever His computer is MORE than capable of playing the games he plays at the settings he is runnig them at.

And make sure to defragment the hard drive, even though you just did a reinstall. Another question about how you did the reinstall, did you use the built-in Windows writer or DBAN?

He's referring to Oblivion about the dungeons...presumably from an earlier problem.

Stupid question, but do you have "Enable Write Combining" checked?

Actually, that isn't a stupid question.
Also, stop flaming akshayt, guys. This could be a real issue with his computer, and you guys are just making it a worse experience.
Anyways, very choppy gameplay at 10x7 is a bad sign. I see what you are saying now about FPS/choppy relationship. Did you have an nVidia card before this? Have you run Driver Cleaner AFTER uninstalling your drivers? Here, uninstall your drivers, start your computer in Safe Mode, run Driver Cleaner for ALL nVidia and ATi driver instances. Reinstall Cat 7.1s, run the game tests. Also, get memtest86 on a floppy and run that, because this sounds oddly like a memory issue possibly.

Well, my thinking is he said he reformatted and reinstalled, so he may have forgotten to uncheck this Option.

It's pretty obvious though and he is a Platinum Member . . . .

1)What is Write Combining, how to enable it? But the question still remains that if there is a problem with keeping this option on or off, why would Most Wanted run fine for the first few days?

2)I have changed the mobo fan too many times. I just saw it, either it is working fine or not working at all. I say this because I don't see it spinning slow or giving any sound(not sure of this one as another of my fan seems to be giving an annoying sound), so either it is spinning fast or not spinning at all.

3)I just formatted the HDD, do I need to repartition and format, won't that spoil my HDD?

4)My idle GPU temps are good, in the 40s. In the recent past I haven't checked CPU temps. Load GPU temps cross 70C.

5)DxDiag is fine.

6)I don't know how to create a bootable disc, please tell me using Nero 7. I am already using a divider and have also tried stock settings but even that didn't help. A few months back I had done Prime, Super Pi and OCCT.

7)Trying older drivers doesn't seem to make sense because in MW the performance was the best ever I got on my rig for the first 2-3 days, after that it went back to what it used to be previously(before the format). Nothing seems to be wrong in the drivers, right?

8)I haven't defragged my game drive E(100GB) till now. I don't know that after a fresh install defrag needs to be done. Yesterday night I defragged my XP/C driver but didn't try any game after that.

9)Scanned for spyware, fixed problem and removed Norton. Didn't do anything.

10)What is inbuilt writer and what is DBAN?

11)

Right click on your Desktop Screen, select Properties, Settings, Advanced, and then the Troubleshoot tab.

There will be a box there, you want it to be unchecked.

It may not totally eliminate the stuttering, but it should make a big impact.

3.) I usually just Delete any existing Partitions and have Windows reformat and install on the whole HD.

You're not doing a Low Level format, so there's really no wear & tear so to speak.

Don't forget to make sure that you've installed the Chipset Drivers for you MB as well - not the IDE portion.

Try again without Norton. There are tons of Spyware/Virus's which specifically target Norton.

You make a bootable disc with a floppy. In your BIOS, it is set to read from the floppy drive first for diagnostics. Simply put the memtest files on a floppy, insert the floppy, Shut Down (not Restart) your computer, wait ~10 seconds (to let the hard drive stop, of course), and turn it back on. It should run memtest in the boot sequence.

Yes, I saw it, it is checked. I will uncheck and try my game again. But I have one query still answered that since write combining was checked from the beginning and my game was fine for a few days, how could write combining be causing anything? Anyway, I will uncheck it and see. Also, it says that write combining is for faster video, will unchecking make my games slower?

I don't know what write combining is, but I know unchecking stopped my F.E.A.R. form crashing when I first installed my 7950GT. Write combining should make your games faster. AFAIK it is an old, now almost totally pointless function.
