Hi.
After looking at some reviews, like the one on Anandtech, I decided to buy the Asus UX305, that core m powered ultrabook.
The thing is, that after some nice regular use (internet browsing, etc.), I tried some Dota2, and that it didn't performed like the UX305 reviewed by Anandtech at all (~30fps vs 54 with same settings). So I ran 3DMark (2013), and again, I got totally different results : 353,1293,2758,26926 vs 609,2273,4251,49619, for respectively FireStrike, SkyDiver, CloudGate, and IceStorm. I only have the 4Go/128Go of RAM/SSD version, but I don't think that it can explain the difference.
Then I looked at others review, and again, it's different : Techradar gets almost the same than Anandtech with 594,2190, and 4210 (no IceStorm), and so does Laptopmag with 603 for FireStrike and 48830 for IceStorm, while Notebookcheck with 407,2958,27325 (no SkyDiver) and Ultrabookreview with 390,1432,2889,26714 are more near my own result. And their other benchmarks differs as well.
But there's other things : Anandtech reports that it's core m was sometimes going above 80°C when loaded, while mine never go past 65. Would it only be about some thermal throttle differences? I've also read about these E0/F0 stepping, even if I still don't really know what the problem was with the E0. Would it be that very problem, could a so huge difference be explained by that? But even if so, my cpu is the M-5Y10c, which according to this, should have the F0 stepping. Would'nt the F0 one offers more performance, being the more recent one? But there's also Hwinfo64 which tells me that my real stepping would be E0.
So, does anyone understand/have an explanation for that, or experience a similar thing? As you can see I'm kinda lost by it.
Edit:
There's indeed throttle, unlike what I've read about this laptop. When running occt on 4 threads, my freq go up to 1.5, but when it reach 60°C, it go down to 1.2.
