Permanently disable controller vibration?

Short of taking apart my wireless 360 controller is there another way to Permanently disable this function? It seems all it does it eat away at the batteries.

Not knowing what the controller is in makes the response difficult. Assuming it is in a computer, try Device Manager and Disable.

Yes it is the wireless xbox 360 controller for windows. I looked in device manager and I did not see an option to disable the vibrate option.

Hmmm! Doesn't the XBox 360 have a setup/configuration menu where features and functions can be turned on or off? I assume this is the hand held game controller? Try this:

It is the wireless for windows version. I see no way to disable the vibrate function yet.

There is no global setting for disabling the vibration function when using the controller on a PC.
I unscrewed mine and removed the motors.
(FYI, it requires a security torx bit)

Most games that support the 360 controller will allow you to disable vibration. I use mine for the mic and some vehicles in BF3, but I don't want it rattling around on the desk when I'm not using it so I disabled vibration in the BF3 controller options.

I don't think there is a global option.

Just be gentle, and patient The metal the screws are made of is very soft, and easy to strip if you use a screwdriver that is too small. Also, the shoulder buttons can be somewhat annoying to keep in place while putting it back together.

Once that's done, it will be easy. The 360 controllers are not hard to take apart and put back together.

## Disable xinput1_3.dll vibration

You can patch XInputSetState in xinput*.dll.

(As with any dll, to use the file place it in the same directory as the application that use it, or in %PATH% (in an existing entry such as %WinDir%\SysWOW64 or %WinDir%\System32 or a new entry with higher priority than those) to use it globally.)

I googled for this, to turn off vibration permanently in xbox controller and found this thread. Thanks John Peterson, your patched xinput1_3.dll works well.:thumbsup:

Thank you John Peterson, it worked. I lost my health trying to fix this problem and finally it is working. I was totally confused by instructions on how to do it. So this is what I did: I have downloaded the zip file form John Peterson link. So click on that link, once there, under Files, click Home > Files, than under Files, click on that link, it will take you to the download page, than click download and you will get bin-patch.zip file, extract that file, once inside you will see 32 and 64 folder, enter first one and extract xinput1_3.rar, copy xinput1_3.dll to game root folder, where the game exe is located, I went to 64 folder and extracted XInput9_1_0.rar, and placed XInput9_1_0.dll in game root folder just in case.
