true, a child should never need to fire a gun, but we don't live in fairyland, now do we?

What?

besides, guns aren't just about killing. thats the thing that you anti-gun nuts don't get. shooting guns at targets is a very fun hobby.

I've shot plenty. Yea it's fun. So that means kids should fire uzis does it?

wow...you talk about people taking your comments out of context and what not, but yet you post this???

I responded on the same level as your own post - you made a fatuous comment about 'fairlyand' and claimed I was an 'anti-gun nut' whos never fired a shot in his life, which I am not.

My point is that nothing you've said in any way justifies the weapon being given to the child. I bet you wouldn't give an uzi to an eight year old yourself right? You're just giving stock responses to a steriotype you wrongly believe I embody.

i would say stop posting before you make yourself look like a dumbass, but it's way too late for that.

i never claimed any of those things. i never once said an 8 year old should be handed an uzi, nor do i think it was right either. you should take a look at what you post before you accuse other people of doing the same thing.

That's what this thread is about... if you're not talking about that, what are you talking about here?

true, a child should never need to fire a gun, but we don't live in fairyland, now do we?

as if you have a good reason why kids should be using weapons...

Did I misunderstand that?

no idea wtf you are talking about in your 1st statement.

there's nothing wrong with kids using weapons, as long as they are trained to use them, understand gun safety, as long as it's a gun they can handle, like a bb gun or .22, and as long as they are supervised by an adult who understands gun safety and is trained to use guns.

as to the part you quoted, you wouldn't want your child to be able to defend him/herself? it would be nice if kids didn't have to worry about being attacked in an way, but bad things do happen.

I think there's something wrong with that mentality in itself...

Guns don't make people kill other people, they're just a tool that get the job done.

In many cases that's true - if you set out to kill someone you're gonna do it regardless of weapon, but what about this situation:

A young man, possibly not the bravest or smartest young man, is in a threatening situation. He is carrying a firearm. Someone comes over and insults him and tries to pick a fight. Does this man fight with his fists and possibly go home with a broken nose? Or does he fire that weapon out of fear?

If he has reason to believe that his life is in danger, he has every right to shoot him.

The guy has raised his fists. You would you shoot him?

There is such a thing as a fair fist fight. Or at least there used to be.

Also, who's going to try to pick a fist fight with someone who has a gun?

I assume the gun is concealed for the sake of arguement. Personally if I see a gun at a party I just leave.

I wouldn't get in a fight over some tool insulting me to begin with. But if he resorted to violence I would draw. If he wished to escalate the situation I'd go from there.

You are a coward.

and if he's stupid enough to try to fight an armed man, he'd be a dead man. Or at least cripple.

you're missing the point. your gun is concealed. he raises his fist on a SEEMINGLY unarmed man: you. you decide to draw a gun because you're a coward.

get it?

You're an imbecile. In the real world, there is no such thing as a fair fight unless it is amongst family members or friends to settle a relatively small argument. A person has every right to defend his or her self against an attacker, including using a gun either as a means to frighten the assailant or to injure them.

Got it>

I agree... however, you never shoot to injure.

As for the kid. He was 8? Why would you give an automatic weapon to an 8 year old? Just doesn't make any sense. Flip the switch, let him fire one round per pull to see if he can handle the recoil and then... maybe... let him try the full run.

there's something wrong with promoting the safe and proper use of firearms? how many kids that accidentally shot themselves playing with guns do you think would be alive today if they had proper training and respect for a gun?

Sure...in a perfect world where kids that age can make rational decisions that should be made by rational adults and can physically handle a firearm that adults sometimes have a hard time controlling. We might as well let children into the workforce and promote sexual promiscuity and provide proper condom use while we're at it.

Point is, your and idiot.

Did you even read what I wrote? Heck, did you even read what you wrote?

What rational decisions does a child have to make when being taught and supervised by a responsible adult?

Have you ever shot ANY type of gun? A bb gun has no recoil at all and .22 has very minimal recoil. If an adult has trouble handling either one, then they have other issues way more pressing than being able to fire a gun.

your other examples are even more retarded than the rest of your post. Maybe you should learn about the topics you are speaking about before speaking so you don't sound like a total fool.

I think that in addition to the multiple spelling mistakes in your last comment, you also should have spelled your as "I am".

I don't see anything in your post that makes any sense at all.
