Seriously, if there weren't gun laws, I'd get one of those. For nonlethal purposes, of course. I don't recommend killing animals, even.

And, just get a scarecrow with motion things. Don't kill animals unless they're hideous.

Why not a paintball gun?

"That's a confirmed kill."

Paintball guns are horrendously inaccurate at range. An air rifle with scope is usually pretty good. I can put pellet on pellet at 50 ft with 1 in. spread no problemo.

You needs accuracy when you can have several dozen paintballs falling on a target in seconds?

That's a helluva lot more expensive per shot than a pump-action pellet gun. I'm also pretty sure that's very cruel. Would you want hundreds of plastic shards in you?

One shot. One kill. It's more humane to make them not suffer.

I tried paintballs on the rabbits on my backyard before I used the airgun. You can't really fire more than one before they start to run (since the move on noise). You can hit them, but it didn't seem to really deter them much...

Rat poison also will kill other animals. I'm not looking to do that, I have tons of gray squirrels in my yard too but they dont do damage so I leave them alone.

As for the pics, I already buried the first 2 but I'll snap a shot of the next one for the morbidly curious.

Isn't pellet gun unhumane? Not INSTAKILL!
Bet they wiggle for a few minutes

Get a firearm and do BOOM HEADSHOT!

or just BOOM - they will be blown apart

"Woodpeckers are a federally protected bird under the North American Migratory Bird Act. Do not use lethal control on woodpeckers without contacting your Federal Wildlife Officer. You will need to institute non-lethal control strategies before you will receive permission to implement lethal control."

3 more kills this weekend.. they're everywhere! As for the woodpeckers, apparently feeding them suet keeps them from pecking my wood shingles.

I use a C02 powered air revolver. Looks like a matte black .357. With hollowpoint pellets, it has enough muzzle velocity to kill a opossum at ~20-25ft. It was eating the cat food we put out for the outside cats and driving them out of the heated garage they slept in during the winter.

Woodpeckers are destroying my wood shingle house I just had painted with some very expensive paint/coating.

My solution to this problem is this

POWERMASTER 664SB

Does anyone have this or something similar that they use for small pest control?

BB: up to 690 fps(210.3 m/s) Pellet: up to 645 fps(196.5 m/s)

That is adequate for varments and birds.

Or...you know...a cat.

cats don't belong outside...they will become worst pests for those that don't like them.

If one does have an outdoor cat that's not fixed they are a fucking moron.

Theres a feral cat that hangs around my yard and neighbors yards stalking the chipmunks but one cat can only do so much against 20-30 chipmunks (low estimate) on an acre plot. I have 3 indoor cats and they managed to get one that got into the garage. They also do great of catching the field mice that always end up in the house in the fall when it starts getting cold.

The bb/pellet gun has been great so far. I find I have much better accuracy on less windy days. This weekend it was HOT and muggy, no air flow or wind and I got 3 of em with 4 shots.

Well with that many pests you really should be putting repellent down in your yard. They aren't going to know you are plunking them off one by one.

The only repellent that supposedly works is coyote urine and it washes away with rain...
I also have a dog and that is supposed to be a deterant but they don't seem to mind her at all.

The hawks around here are slacking...

Nice rifle! I purchased a Pumpmaster 760 and a 664sb like yours for my girlfriend and I to plink at our "shooting gallery" in the back yard.

Basically shooting into my toolshed with cardboard, then metal backstop (no ricochets).

The 760 wasn't too great- it shot all over the map. The 664sb was awesome, so I gave it to her and returned her gun.

Power is decent, but pumping it up 10 times to get the 700~ fps each time sucks. I decided to go with power/quality over quantity so I got a single shot springer instead.
Powerline 1000s

This air rifle is insanely powerful. Not as powerful as some gamos that go 1600fps, but I got it for $59 on sale at Academy (normally 79).

This thing will blast through a powdercoated steel pc case, whereas the 664sb will only leave dents in it. I put some Gamo PBA Raptors in each gun and the Powerline will break the sound barrier (loud).

Both guns are good, it just depends on what you awnt to do. I think I'm going to go back and get a fixed barrel springer liek the gamo CFX.

This sport is fun . I don't shoot live things though. I can't wait to shoot a 2L bottle full of dry ice and water... he.he.he.
