Petition to remove Anita Sarkeesian from Mirror's Edge 2 development

Some of you may have heard the rumour that Anita Sarkeesian is consulting on Mirror's Edge 2 for EA, she's already suggested that women need a whole new set of simplified controls because its too hard for her to play.

Now there's a petition to have her removed from development, it already has over 30,000 signatures, if you want to have a voice on the matter I suggest you sign the petition and then pass the link to anyone else you think might want to sign it.

About as childish as her? About her lies; about her feeling games are too hard for women so they have to be dumb down? How is that not condecending to women themselves?

I know a lot of gamers; male and female; none of them want games dumb down; specially my female gamer friends. That's simply playing into one of the oldest problems; oh you are a girl; it would be too hard for you. Utter BS.

This is her influence.........and will end up causing the game to crash and burn; which sucks as the first game was awesome.

I did. It was reported on just over two years ago, or close to three depending on date format.

Unfortunately, the reason this is happening is because those basement dwelling idiots made rape and murder threats against her. While I don't support feminism or Ms Sarkesian, I don't condone rape threats either.

For some reason I thought that Mirror's Edge 2 came out long ago, and that the new game was a reboot called Mirrors Edge (in keeping with this idiotic naming fad we've been seeing).

I wonder how the game is going to turn out. I didn't really like the first one that much, but there were a few aspects I really appreciated. the movement could feel incredible at times, especially that landing roll. That was so perfect, and every time I play a bit of Mirror's Edge, I find myself trying to execute the roll in other games afterwards.

I didn't dislike the minimalist visuals as much as I thought I would, but there were a few places where they definitely took it too far - to the point where the game just looked buggy (white foliage looked like a texture loading malfunction).

edit: Appears the article is indeed satire.

Reading Gibeau's real comments about making the reboot "More accessible" did lend some credence to the premise.

I guess we'll just have to wait to find out just how much more "accessible" they decide to make it.

Games aren't about creativity, it's about checking off each checkbox on a massive list of "appease everyone!!!" and it's getting tiring. At best, I'll play it when it's on a super sale, but otherwise, sorry EA, if you can't let your creative talent do it's job, I wont' give you my moneys.
