Agreed. I like Taco Bell. I dont care if people think its not REAL Mexican food, its Taco Bell damnit!

Exactly

If I want real Mexican food I can go to the taco truck right down the street from the Taco Bell but sometimes I want Taco Bell. Too many food/beer elitists here.

Funny how so many people seem to be getting their panties in a twist about PF Changs not being authentic. Big deal. If people like to eat it, good for them. If you don't like it, I have a solution for you: don't eat there.

Um, Taco Bell is shit...and they don't serve martinis.

I have zero qualms about liking PF Changs and hating Taco Bell. The two don't even come close to comparison.

Sometimes it seems like that, but there are also a lot of people who wouldn't know good food/beer if it hit them in the face.

It seems that most of the people that are like that live in places where they couldn't even get the authentic stuff.

I lived a few years in Albuquerque NM. there were tons of amazing places to eat and cheap too!

i can't for the life of me remember any of the names. But i have gone to a few places in Northern IL area and even in toward Chicago. NOTHING is like what i had in NM. it lacks the flavor and heat that i had down there. it seems that most of the "mexican" here in IL is bland.

but yeah Taco Bell is good also.

I like PF Changs, I know it is not Chinese food, but it is still good. My girlfriend is Chinese (I am whitey), so when my parents decided to first meet her, they picked PF Changs for us all to go out to eat. She was the only non-American in there, including the cooks which were all clearly white or black as you could see them through the door preparing the food. Several "Chinese" restaurants around town actually have Chinese people working in them, but they serve American food. Only one "authentic" restaurant in town that she has blessed as being the real deal, it is great, but they do serve some weird stuff (she orders for us in Mandarin, but confirms with me before placing the order, but you never know....). Not fond of that restaurant's service quality, but the food makes up for it, most of the people eating in there are Asians, as are all the people working.

PF Changs is fusion, but it's still good. It's a whole different taste than authentic Chinese food.

IMO, eating at an "authentic" Chinese restaurant is best in a party. Otherwise, I'd rather go to a cafe or buy the fake Chinese food.

Chicago has TONS of excellent Mexican food. Hell, they've even got a James Beard award winning Mexican restaurant. You went to the wrong places.

Ok here it is. PF Changs is "American" food. Because it started in America.

Think of when Marco Polo brought the noodles from China back to Italy. Yea people liked Chinese food back then too. Then they started experimenting and added marinara sauce and meatballs to the noodles. It became an Italian-Chinese fusion. Then over the years, people said hell with it and now its just "authentic" Italian.

Except pasta/speghetti etc is more likely to be Arabic than Chinese.

At P.F. Chang’s we are committed to providing you with an exceptional dining experience every time you walk through our doors. Each dish on our menu is prepared to order using the freshest and highest quality ingredients.

At P.F. Chang’s you are surrounded by a unique environment combining influences of Chinese and American cultures. A panoramic, hand-painted mural depicting 12th century China, is visible from the main dining room and commands attention as the restaurant’s centerpiece, while several terra-cotta warriors stand guard.

Our majestic 11 ft. tall horses grace the entrance to many of our restaurants. The horse symbolizes the original Forbidden City in China, which was built for China’s first emperor Qin Shi Huangdi.

These elements showcase the cuisine and create a stylish, comfortable, upbeat dining experience for our guests.

Can someone tell me where they suggest that their food is authentic Asian cuisine?

as a foodie and asian... i'd only recommend their "mongolian beef", "sesame noodles", and lettuce wrap. hell, on a good night get sautéed spinach. the price isn't that bad compare to regular american places around it.

Please enlighten me on the "real Chinese food" you've had.

And for all those who like PF Chang's, why don't you just pour MSG, salt, peanut oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, and pureed ginger into a blender, blend it until smooth and drink it? It's essentially the same thing, hell my recipe might be healthier than half the shit on PF Chang's menu.

It's amazing how many of you are severely misinformed about Chinese cuisine, but Americans will be Americans. If it's got more calories in one bite than a person's recommended daily calorie intake, they'll eat it.

So anyone who likes PF Changs is misinformed? Wow, I've had real Chinese Food a couple of times. Once was a place my Asian friends, his family and basically everyone in their neighborhood (who were also Asian) suggested. I wasn't impressed at all, it was something I'd never eat again even. I like flavor and this didn't have any. Actually I should take that back, it did have a flavor, but it was boring as hell. And the few other "authentic" places I ate also didn't taste much of anything. Mind you the 1st I went to was recommended by a shit ton of Asian people, most of which didn't even speak any English and was actually in China Town. I like salt, oil and soy sauce. On the flip I've eaten at many authentic Mexican places and love them. When it comes to Chinese I'll always take the Americanized place, always. I'm not misinformed, it's what's called my personal preference. I know Orange Chicken isn't something you find a lot in China. But I don't care because I know it's delicious to me. When I eat or drink, the last thing on my mind is how true it is what it's supposed to be. All that matters is if I like how it tastes. And I'd imagine the majority of the rest of the population, informed at not. Only care about how it tastes and not anything else. "informed" diners tend to be total douchebags who belittle others for making food choices they would never make themselves.

I've never had PF Changs BTW, but I'm sure I'd like it way more than the real places I've eaten at.

Er... I think to be a little more conscientious than just taste is a good thing. To like, not having heart attacks and diabeetus.
