Phantom Console

I know everything that you want to know about the Phantom comes out on August 17th, but I was wondering if anybody actually heard anything about the specs on it yet. I read its basically a universal console with upgrades and can play any PC game under the sun and any future game(I wonder how well PC games will run on it..........). Anyway, if anybody has any knowledge of any specs or has any opinions on it, feel free to share.

It's going to be $600. I can upgrade my computer to top of the line for that.

Its a PC. The main goal of this box is simple: download all games to disk, pay a monthly fee for this service. Think of a faster Xbox, but plays existing games using an monthly fee. You don't own the titles, you just rent them. This is what some people want: cheap console system (this won't be, however) and a small monthly fee. This fee is purely entertainment, much like renting a movie or going out to see a flick: entertainment cash.

I suspect this to fail.

people do it all the time, considering PC games almost always come out on the Xbox, PS2, cube etc.


It would be fun to play on my 42" plasma though. But still, you are essentially buyign a PC so that makes this idea ... STUPID.

unless the current games cost like 5-10 dollars and the console 300, its not worth it
