If a place consistantly claims to have product, but consistantly refuses to sell it to people for "moral reasons" they may be running afoul of bait and switch issues.
fair enough, but that's something entirely different than saying the customer has a "right" to the product. They should make it publicly known when the product won't be available, if they are advertising it.

though i doubt that they are advertising it, you simply assume that a drug-store is going to have the prescriptions you want.

So if I'm a nurse/doctor and a Jehova Witness and I refuse to perform a blood transfusion to a crash victim because it goes against my moral beliefs, the Taliban in Missouri, Arkansas and elsewhere wouldn't mind? I understand refusing to perform an abortion. But refusing to sell a pill that prevents a cell to attach itself to other cells?

I got this from the company in questioned when I emailed asking about what happened. Anyways it appears the pharmacist did violate company policy.

Subject: CVS Pharmacy response to your e-mail.

Dear Valued CVS Customer,
We appreciate the time that you have taken to express your thoughts on our company.
CVS pharmacists routinely dispense birth control medication every day. The situation at our Texas pharmacy was an isolated occurrence and the customer involved should have been provided with her medication. It is CVS policy that our pharmacists must ensure that our customers promptly receive all medications for which they have a lawfully written prescription.

Upon learning of the incident, we moved quickly to personally deliver the customer's medication to her free of charge, and we have apologized to her for this unfortunate situation. Additionally, we have taken steps to address this situation with the individual pharmacist.

Again, we appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to inform us of your concerns and have given us the opportunity to address them.

Sincerely,

Diane M. Parent

and that is exactly how this should have been handled.

The market, not the government, will be the one to intervene as nessisary.

Nice job everybody in spinning this into another "OMFG Fundie Nut jobs are taking over the world" thread

Yeah you dumb Fvck... Lets see you say "this is just freedom" when they refuse to give you your heart meds. Where does it stop?

we can, as by the same freedom limiting principle that allows us to keep him from selling something we can also limit his freedom and make him slave to the state.

But we shouldn?t, because limiting what a merchant of the most dangerous materials in our society can sell seems reasonable to vast majority, while forcing those same merchants to sell what they find morally objectionable (be it birth control, or semi-automatic guns) is an unnecessary and unreasonable infringement into personal freedoms.

only.. pot doesn't really belong in the list of "most dangerous materials" any more than alcohol or cigarettes would.

when you can't get your heart meds else ware and an injury comes to you of it. then you can, rightfully, sue.

What did I tell you about elsewhere:

else·where ( P ) Pronunciation Key (lshwâr, -wâr)
adv.
In or to a different or another place: has property at the shore and elsewhere.

You see how hard you are to deprogram?
