Phenom II x4 840t Bottleneck

I just helped a friend install a gtx 570 1gb and a new psu into his stock hp computer. He has a 840t in his rig (see title) and was wondering about the bottleneck with it. I have heard that any x4 up to the 945-ish range will be held back by the cpu, anybody have any real thoughts or statistics about the bottleneck

CPU probably a bottleneck in BF3, I get 70% usage on my 3.8Ghz Phenom 965 with a HD5850 running on Ultra.

Drop down the CPU speed by 900Mhz and throw in a superior GPU and he's greatly limiting the performance of the GPU.

What is not running right that you think your being bottlenecked? The cpu you mentioned has No problems pushing more then enough frames at all resolutions. (You would most likely reach the ceiling of your GPU before you CPU).

You built a Very potent gaming rig!

Also like a couple others has said, that CPU has the potential of being unlocked to a Hex core (6) cpu. Its worth a try. Just set ACC to Auto (It will be named alittle differently depending on the mobo).

They're different. 840t is a Zosma and a 840 is a Propus. Go figure that neither of them are Denebs
