I think Phil covered about every related talking point the Left uses ad nauseum.

Thanks, morkinva, watching Phil knife right through that blustering, would-be bully really made my day!

In all fairness (though why I'm trying to be fair to someone who uses the phrase "the Left," complete with capitalization, is anybody's guess), would you agree there's nothing anyone could say that would change your mind about the war?

The polls show that most Americans now oppose the war, but for whatever reason - call it stubbornness - I don't think a single conservative poster here would ever admit to changing their minds about it.

yes no surprises in the video, but from the times I've seen O'R, I haven't seen many stand up to him like that

Well, I don't sail by the winds of polls.

And no, I would not agree that there's nothing anyone could say that would change my mind about the war.

Uh, I guess... he gets a big 'you go girl'

But why the hell did Phil keep calling him Billy, like they were old childhood buddies or something.

Donahue was just a pure asshat on the show. Really made a fool out of himself. Every argument he made was old rhetoric that has been used over and over again. Pathetic.

Only the strongest ideological filters can prevent some of the posters above from recognizing that Donohue ripped O'Reilly to pieces. Which isn't surprising at this point- it's pathological, a sort of willful hysterical blindness.

It's always refreshing to see a bully like O'Reilly take a pounding of his very own- nice work, Phil.

That begs the question, what would they have to say to do so? What would it take?

Probably notification that he was being drafted to go fight over there.

I would love a draft right now. CWjerome and Pabster should be the first E-Soldiers selected. Throw them in some desert in Iraq and tell them to fight for the freedom of the Iraqis LOL. These 2 would crap their pants before they even got on the plane.

It takes a little more than switching subjects and blabbering talking points to constitute ripping somebody to pieces. I watched it and about the only thing Philly did was try to talk more. Like the more noise you make equals you are the winner.

If the soldiers in Iraq didnt want to fight or be put into a position to fight. They shouldnt have volunteered for duty. Nobody put a gun to their head. And most over there want to be over there as noted by the high amount of reups we are seeing in our volunteer army.

I take it you're not in the Army, nor do you know anyone who is. I do, and left active duty earlier this year.

The Army, facing enlistment shortfalls at a time it had a great need for enlistees (last spring and summer), implemented large increases in reelistment bonuses. IMO this is the largest reason for the increased reenlistment numbers.

I know a lot of people in the Army, but don't know anyone who WANTS to be in Iraq, other things being equal. It seems to me that if you're so enthusiastic about the fun and camaraderie of being in a combat zone, you're free to enlist yourself - you're 18, right? You can also enlist at 17 with your parents' permission.

Is there a reason you're speaking in sentence fragments like that? It's rather jarring to read.

I have 3 family members in the military. None supported Kerry.

All 3 are making careers out of being in the military. Why would they want to support the left, who in history, has only taken their jobs away from them?

What is the relevance of your post in the context of this discussion?

The military has always consisted of a relatively conservative group of people, but I know literally dozens of GIs (myself included) who supported Kerry in 2004. Actually I found it interesting that a number of retired generals and admirals, including the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and AF Chief of Staff, supported Kerry, largely because of their reservations about President Bush and his deeply flawed military policies.

The mentality of some of you people is that of a 2nd grader. If you arent willing to give this thread an honest discussion then dont bother coming back.

Maybe you should put your mentality under review? The assertion that we shouldn't consider the human costs of a foreign war to our own side because the soldiers knew they would be sent off to fight is not only absurd, it's disgusting. Another armchair general.

What are you talking about? I don't ever recall anyone laying off the military.
