There should be a special Darwin Awards category for people who kill themselves with drug overdoses. It would be _really_ hard to win, though. They're all pretty much the same.
I am a huge jazz fan and know personally dozens of musicians, none of them having millions in the bank (and in most cases, not even thousands). Yet, the lifestyle is the same. Same thing for many sculptors/painters, actors/directors, etcetera.
It's not boredom. It's intellectual restlessness.
I'm really saddened to hear about this.
He was such a talented actor who seemed to work extremely hard and take each role and their nuances extremely seriously.
I loved him in Magnolia and The Talented Mr. Ripley, but he's done an outstanding job in so many movies.
RIP PSH. :rose:
Great actor, sad loss of the kind of talent that's rare these days. Almost felt bad, but drug deaths make me meh.
That's what makes me upset...like, Heath Ledger did an amazing performance as the Joker and then overdoses. Although his was apparently prescription medicine abuse; Wikipedia says it was a combination of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine (holy crap!). But anyway...a lot of these people have little kids, great careers, do meaningful work, and then up & die from drugs. I'm not sure if they just get stuck on the party circuit or take it to deal with the stresses & pressures of the celebrity life or what, but it stinks when we lose talented people too early, especially from bad choices they've made
Sad and shocking.
What is it with these guys, actors, singers that have it all?
And with have it all I mean extraordinary talent.
He was one of those actors that had fought so very hard to make it to the top.
First noticed him in BOOGIE NIGHTS as the dumb blonde.
I hope other exceptional actors take note and piss in their pants just how easily this seems to happen.
Hell... Im still pissed and shocked about Amy Winehouse.
No one else had near her voice or talent.
Inevitable "Who?"
J/K
The Talented Mr. Ripley was amazing.
Ironically, I think Jack Black will fill his Hollywood niche. If you've seen "Bernie," you probably agree with me.
BUT...junkies overdose every day...I will shed no tears over the loss of another one, no matter who it is.

Lester Bangs: Aw, man. You made friends with them. See, friendship is the booze they feed you. They want you to get drunk on feeling like you belong.
William Miller: Well, it was fun.
Lester Bangs: They make you feel cool. And hey. I met you. You are not cool.
William Miller: I know. Even when I thought I was, I knew I wasn't.
Lester Bangs: That's because we're uncool. And while women will always be a problem for us, most of the great art in the world is about that very same problem. Good-looking people don't have any spine. Their art never lasts. They get the girls, but we're smarter.
William Miller: I can really see that now.
Lester Bangs: Yeah, great art is about conflict and pain and guilt and longing and love disguised as sex, and sex disguised as love... and let's face it, you got a big head start.
William Miller: I'm glad you were home.
Lester Bangs: I'm always home. I'm uncool.
William Miller: Me too!
Lester Bangs: The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what we share with someone else when we're uncool.
William Miller: I feel better.
Lester Bangs: My advice to you. I know you think those guys are your friends. You wanna be a true friend to them? Be honest, and unmerciful.
Shooting up at a young age is stupid beyond words. Doing it at 46 is suicide. Plain and simple. Really wondering what was bothering him so much he turned to that?
