I'm surprised no one else has made the connection that he died on SuperBowl Sunday when it was being played in the very stadium that Jimmy Hoffman was buried in!

I'm curious about how you feel on the issue. I don't agree with everything he said. But the idea that an addict is a selfish creature isn't radical.

I don't disagree that an addiction can have selfish beginnings (taking the first hit for example). But making a blanket statement saying all serious addicts are 'just being selfish' is a myopic and ignorant view of the issue. Serious addiction takes 'choice' out of the equation; it becomes a physical and mental dependency. Commonly evidenced by people selling all of their possessions, stealing, doing whatever else to get that drug. It's a terrible thing to see, and I've seen up close.

And of course in this case, heroin is no joke. I've heard it described as 'God patting you on the head'. Not really a surprise that people come back for more after the first hit.

The production team claimed they were only going to have to do a few minor rewrites to keep the movies continuity. But he will still be in it.

Imagine if you really liked to jaywalk. It gave you a bit of a thrill but after a while it was just part of life. Sure you would almost get hit by a car every so often, but you never got hurt. Would you hire a crossing guard? No.

Addiction is not logical. It also comes with great shame. You know you need to stop. You want to stop. But just the thought of going through with it scares you like nothing before.
