back in April 2015, Home Depot offered Philips 60W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) A19 LED Light Bulb 2-Pack for $4.97. yesterday, my local home depot sold these bulbs for $4.00 per box (2 bulbs.) YMMV.

Home Depot now has Philips 60W Equivalent Soft White A19 LED Light Bulb (4-Pack) $9.97. still a pretty good deal.

Philips 60W Equivalent Daylight A19 LED Light Bulb (4-Pack) $10.97.

These are basic bulbs with 10,000 life hours. CRI 80. Dimmable: N.

I have a couple of what I assume must be the same model bulb, sold in a 2 pack, currently in use and while I obviously have no idea how long they'll last over the long run, they're fine as of now - no delay turning on, nice color (I have the "soft white"), etc...

Do either of these put out light similar to a regular 60W incandescent?

When shopping for bulbs, compare the lumens and the color temp. If they are close to a 60w bulb rating they will look close to the same.

Thanks, I'll see if they have any today.
You can get 4 40w equivalent bulbs for this price but the brighter ones such as this are more expensive.

I tried both the daylight and soft white when i put the ones in my kitchen. Daylight is pretty harsh at least to me. We stuck with the soft white for all bulbs in the house.

I'm still on CFLs I bought in 2009. I have only changed 3 bulbs since and I still have unused. When they all go I will be switching to LED.

Soft/warm white is closest to standard incandescents. My favorite incandescents were GE's "Reveal" line, which are basically soft white, but tweaked a bit (in exactly what sense, color-wise, I'm not sure) to produce a slightly better CRI*. GE does have an LED version of the Reveal series, but they're expensive.

Having lived until not-too-long ago in an apartment with so much natural light that I basically never used electric lights during the day, but living now in one that's almost the diametric opposite, what I've found is that the daylight bulbs are great when you have at least some natural light coming in as well, but that all by itself, it is rather harsh.

I'm still on CFLs I bought in 2009.
YMMV of course, but I've always hated the color of fluorescent lighting - even the most advanced, color-tweaked CFLs - so at the prices the cheaper LED bulbs have come down to these days, I'd happily spend the money to get rid of the CFLs if I'd been using them...

Lamp shades can definitely help. If they are dangling from a fan, then you will see their true color.

I have a whole bunch of CFL's I bought about that time as well. They have moved 2 houses with me (Yes, I take the light bulbs with me when I move), but they are starting to die. I'm going to replace them with LEDs this time.

Just bought a bunch of Philips LED's from Home Depot last weekend.

The prices are very good on the Candelabra Base LED Light Bulb (3-Pack). Even at 40W Equivalent they did a nice job replacing 60W incandescents.

Their can light bulbs also seemed like a great deal for a dimmable bulb.

Keep in mind the Philips bulbs are 10,000 hours and Cree branded bulbs are listed at 25,000 hours.
My porch lights are on for about 8 hours, so only looking at a 3.5 year bulb.
